I have had some responses on other sites I have posted on regarding HomeShare and with the experience I have had there are some mis-conception of how much it really is. I can answer pretty much any question as it pertains to functionality, installation and limitations.

Default Homeshare-Receiver Compatibility

I'm building a house and am considering installing Homeshare HD, but I was told by the installer that Homeshare is not compatible with Sony's newest receivers, particularly the 6400ES. My goal is to ensure we have the most flexibility possible for the future, so I felt that a network-capable receiver would help give us that. However, if the Homeshare HD system is only compatible with the 4400ES, as the installer claims, I'm not sure this is a good way to "future-proof" my house. I'm trying to avoid upgrading to "Control 4" given the expense, but I don't want to install a system that can't be upgraded in the future. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I have personally utilized the 6400 receiver with success

Which Sony receiver do you recommend for the HomeShare system?

I have installed both the 4400ES and 6400ES receivers with no issues. I personally think that you should have a dedicated receiver in the home theater space and another receiver for the household system via homeshare. I used a 4400ES for the house system and a 6400ES in the dedicated HT. Just my two cents...
