Blogs are 99.9999999% useless.

How about some real information.

The title did not match the story. The guy used an old antenna he had. He didn't build an antenna. I agree with Doc, the story is mostly useless except to illustrate that people actually make money off of such dribble.

"I purchased an HDTV OTA receiver - not an analog converter. It only has digital output."

That ought to tell you that you should view the author's claims with a grain of salt? (a grain being somewhat less than a pinch).

Yea, pretty wacked out.

Seems eHDMI will post just about anything to advertise his "for profit" link.

I made/built my 1st homemade antenna back in April of 2007 and wrote about in on my Windows Live web page (blog). http://HTHUT.spaces.live.com

Make your own OTA Digital/HDTV Antenna
(Note: there are no HDTV antennas, it's just a marketing term.)

Before you buy a antenna for your new HDTV or Converter Box, try hooking up your old analog TV antenna. If your digital signal is weak and you have a lot of drop outs. You may want to build your own antenna like I did. I have tried all sorts of commercial store bought antennas and must say my home made antenna beats the pants off of all of them.

Lumelab has a dedicated thread with 51 pages of info and discussion on the topic. DIY HDTV Antenna (Update) You will need to register w/ Lumenlab to see the thread.
AVS Forums also has a thread. How to build a UHF antenna...

My builds below

This was my 1st and is inside my sons room connected to a Converter Box and an Analog CRT TV.

This is my 2nd build and is out side 10' above roof. I have it connected to two digital TV's. (Both are CRT's, 1 is HD and the other is SD)"

I can see this for the accomplishment aspect for the hobbyist.

But hardly seems worth it to save 30 bucks.
