Your title is misleading. They are only closing 7 stores in the USA. The rest are located in Canada.

This is to bad. We have Gregg, BestBuy,Sears and a couple of other store that sell HD equipment - But it's Circuit City that seems to do the best job of presenting their wares - just my opine from the Knoxville area. Hope we will keep our local outlet.

I wonder if the 62 stores in Canada are ones operating under "The Source by Circuit City" banner. These stores operated under the Radio Shack banner before Circuit City bought InterTan Canada.

Something like that, numerous malls have both stores and most of the Circuit City stores are very fresh and they're making a sales killing closing the stores.

Default I'm still trying to figure out....

how K-Mart bought Sears. I was at the Sears scratch, dent and service center. There was a lady that bought a item there at the service center and brought it back due to a missing part. The clerk said sorry that's a factory issue and to call them.

I haven't shopped CC in years. Staff is almost as hopeless as the local BB.

no love lost here. my local circuit city is a couple notches above a compton swap meet. and that's not relying on salesmanship at all. i judge my mainstream electronics stores on customer service post-purchase, ease of checkout, presentation of the goods, and selection. My local CC has me in line for at least 30 minutes in the last two trips...one to buy speaker wire, the other to buy rechargeable batts for my xbox controllers. I swore I 'd never go back. (In defense of CC, I'm well aware of people who feel exactly the same about BB and can see how either could screw you.) all depends on the actual staff and management of said store.

If CC were to disappear tommorow, I wouldnt notice.

I dont know about you peeps, but I tend to my my nicer electronic components from a high-end store or better yet ONLINE. It's the best way to get deals. Somtimes i will go into BB/CC to (literally) get my hands on a product, but if they can't match the price that i can get online (which they can't 8/10 times) then they never see my $$. There's no way i'm paying what those stores charge.

Circuit City has a nice TV selection....that's it though...they've priced themselves out of the market here....plus, the store is VERY unorganized. They place the HD-DVD,Blu-Ray and regular disk all together, so you have to dig..

CC sales help is lacking, (No different from Best Buy) but as an old Infinity audio fan, I'd still visit. The store in North Raleigh, NC prior to Christmas had in-store TV prices matching many of the online folks, which has since changed.

What did shock me was that a brand new CC just opened a week ago NE of Raleigh. After visiting the other store, I wondered how they stayed in business. The new one is walking distance to a BB, so maybe price will be the key.

I think if BB is close to the price online and I used them to "get my hands" on a product, it's my duty as a consumer to buy from them. The store charges more to put those products in direct sight. It's not free for them to run the stores, pay their people, etc.

Were you refering to the new store or old store as to which shouldn't be opened. I believe the store director of the new store is one of the people that did my training when I left sears to go to CC. If its the one I am thinking about he is awesome and really knows his stuff.
