Question Good or Bad news?

What I'm wondering is ---> If this new technology is just one-way communication, the way current CableCards are in DCR HDTV's that are being sold now, is that an indication that two-way CC2.0 is a lot further off than we think? Or, is this simply a way to get things started with the most readily available technology, and possibly a good sign that CC2.0 will move along faster now that Bill & Co. have thrown their hat into the ring?

I've been holding off purchase of a 2nd HD set until CableCard two-way is available, but I don't know whether the quote above should make me happy < > or crappy < > . Thoughts?

What that article didn't say, was that the agreement REQUIRES the MS Vista OS, since it is a 'secure content' OS. Copy protected content will be encrypted in storage, and won't be exportable to other systems. Another feature is support for Firewire with HDCP, and HDMI. As Vista won't be out for another year, any PC tuner cards with CableCard are likely to be CC 2.0 by the time they're on the shelf, since it's already approved.
