well, looks like I have answered my own question :

This is from Digital Trends today (digitaltrends. com).............

"The Elite LED LCD TVs will be available from high-end retailers and custom installers late this month. The 60-inch version will start at $5,999.99, while the 70-inch version will have a suggested price of $8,499.99."

Actually, ^^ I would expect most retailers to see the new Elite panels for the approved MAP prices; PRO-60XFD $5499 and the PRO-70XFD $7999.

You can also expect to see promotional bundles.

BTW, this beautiful new TV will be included in our shoot-out event.

Robert, I may have missed it by trying to follow too many threads in too many different places. Which Elite will be in the shootout, the 60 or 70?

OK, Thanks Robert. I'm thinking I may just fly up on the Sunday and back on the Monday. I'm not nuts about those turn around drives anymore. (doing one to Fla in the morning) Still got to work on the details with the bride.

I wonder if the unit they will be "crease"-free I'd like to hear how they are responding to the growing number of compliants? Last update is they are acknowledging it as, normal and was 'pre-accounted' for in-production and was determined within acceptable range. ???

OK, we have a fresh statement from Sony, which acknowledges there may be issues with 'un-uniform', but that's "within specification."

"After a thorough investigation, our engineers have not detected any process or production issues for these TV products. These TV products have a special structure at the front of an LCD panel for achieving vivid picture by improving its optical characteristic.

My last shipment did not suffer from a pronounced crease. In fact, it's so subtle that you need to get very close to the screen to even see it and even then it's very minor.

These are the latest August build so maybe Sony improved on the glass bonding process.

Robert, hopefully they've given particular attention to the panels being installed in the 65" models, there is a hungry market for these larger panels, waiting with $$$ in hand, ready to buy, if the quality is there.

Our seventh annual flat panel shoot-out event is getting a lot of interest from the press. Several consumer and trade publications have interviewed me and are publishing articles. Twice Magazine our industries leading trade publication is the first to write and publish an article. More to come shortly.

This event is finally being recognized as an unbiased evaluation of all the panels displayed and not just an advertising promotion. The participants involved in the calibrations, who strive for perfection on every calibration, are all seasoned professionals, that do not have any sales agenda to satisfy. They simply want to show you the best panels and explain the reason why they have achieved that status.
