Lightbulb HDF Community: Any Interest in a "Great Deals Found" thread? *Beta*

I think this would be a great sticky.

With the absence of BOGOs and HD DVDs drying up, we need to share some info where the deals can be had for BDs, or HD DVD sales. Amazon has all their HD DVDs back up to $15! So inetvideo has been a nice little blessing.

We should all post any great deals found or coupon scans. It's popular at AVS, but at this point I don't even like giving them traffic hits anymore.

SO

I propose that we have 3 options here HDF'ers! (sound that out. It's just plain wrong)

1. Update the thread ourselves, and PROMISE NOT TO POST ANYTHING OT. Keep the deals thread clean and concise. If you make a big purchase, PM the poster with the deal info and thank him. Let's make this thread easy to digest.

2. LOCK THE THREAD! Hear me out. We will need to ask PFC5 if he is willing to restart this thread as the OP and be willing to take PMs from members and post the info daily. That would be a HUGE favor to ask of the guy, but if we're lucky and nice, he just may do it I think that would be the best approach. The thread would just be tacked up top and there would only be one post with the most up-to-date sales.

Please PFC

3. Forget this thread and pay near MSRP at Best Buy

So. I propose that this be a "feeler" thread to gauge the interest of such a thread.

Anyone interested, please post saying so, and let's see if we can decide on a structure for it.

I'll ultimately ask that this version of the thread be deleted after we find an agreeable format for it, or BEG PFC5 TO PICK OPTION #2

I for one will be happy to post and "good deals found" from Amazon and Wal-Mart. I go to Wal-Mart a few times a week for groceries and whatnot. Always make it a point to check out the BD section.

I think we should add hardware too. HD DVD players are finally becoming hard to find for a good price. Last deal I saw on those were refurbished A2's from a power seller on ebay for ~$60.

Carry on!

Amazon has a 40% off sale on Disney/ Buena Vista BDs. This includes the Pixars.

I know it's not a BIG sale, but it knocks a couple dollars off an already good price.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=amb_link_7233882_3?ie=UTF8&docId=1000257861&pf _rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=right-blog-0&pf_rd_r=15P5JPGYF4DY7VTTQB1G&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p =420586801&pf_rd_i=193640011

Nothing over $20.95 shipped Even new stuff like

No Country for Old Men
All PotC
All Pixar

Good catalogs like

Con Air
The Rock
Crimson Tide
Enemy of the State

are mostly $17.95

That's all I got right now. Tis why I need your help!

I'd prefer a separate thread for each sale. Sales now will be few and sparse, it would be better to recognize a sale as a separate thread, then to have it hiding in a sticky. My

I prefer a specific forum. Not a specific thread or series of threads. HD Bargains. It could encompass hardware or software. Discs, downloads... whatever.

I think this might be a better idea. Let me see if I can add it in the same section or if I need an admin to do it.

Agreed!

We just need everyone to post everything they find there.

Well I cannot add a section so someone should send a PM to one of the admins here to to request this section.

Just scroll to the bottom of the main page and click on the mod link to find them. IB-Dick is probably the person to do it.

EDIT:

Even better idea. Just post the request in the Forum Feedback section and everyone can chime in saying they want it so they can see the demand for it. Say WHY you want it, and don't forget to include how it would make you have less of a need to go to another forum for that kind of section (if it is true for you).

We want everything to be here in our home away from home.

Sounds like a great idea to me. The only reason I have AVS bookmarked is their deals thread.

Anyone else think there are way too many sticky's? Two I understand. Three is my own personal preference for a max. But seven!? It takes me a few seconds just to see what thread is at the top now.

It's an adult site, but anyone interested can just Google 'Springtown DVD'.

I agree with mswoods1 that there are already too many stickys.

I'm with you and mswoods1 here. There are 7 stickies, and 5 of them have nothing to do with HDM.
