Smile IMO: We Should All Be Very Happy We have HDF . . .

AVS, in the last 24 hours has proven to me, beyond a shadow of a doubt . . . how fortunate we are to have HDF.

In the last 24 hours . . .

I received a General Warning (no points) for this post:

Quote:
It appears that there is some confuusion concerning Deep Color, HDMI 1.3 and HDM.

The CEM's are using the moniker Deep Color in association with HDMI 1.3 which is the "pipe" that carries the signal.

But according to those in the know - the chips in the HDM players can only handle 8bit.

So once again we are seeing Asian marketing at it's finest. Sure the "pipe" can handle DC . . . but there is no way today that is backwards compatible for all DC encoded movies (if and when they ever show up) to play on current HDM players . . . and get the benefit of Deep Color. You need a new player.

Is that right?
Immediately sent a PM to a mod asking why? No response yet.

The following threads I started have been locked right away - reason already being discussed - but no link to any threads that are discussing the OP:

How Will Hollywood Adjust To HDM Buying Habits?

http://www.highdefforum.com/showthread.php?t=68778

IMO: Can You Really Compare HDM to DVD?

http://www.highdefforum.com/showthread.php?t=68712

Thank God for HDF!

Agreed Lee. They get nutso over there sometimes. I got an infraction because they said I "attacked a poster" Well if someone would have actually read the post to understand the meaning of what it was, no one was being attacked. There is an ongoing thread about how lossless audio is really not that great and the OP claims that NONE of us can REALLY hear a difference....we have just "imagined" that it is better. Anyway I was mocked for having the opinion that I can hear a difference. Anyhoo, I enjoy this forum much better. People seem more likely to come here to ask questions and less likely to argue. JMHO.

It's good that there is HDD too, a place where those of us that like HD DVD can still talk about it without all the crap, like we are getting here

Do the mods at AVS actual know anything about the subjects people raise or are they just power mad idiots who lock any thread that is remotely controversial because they can?

I don't bother with AVS anymore. It's become nothing but a joke as far as I am concerned where nothing can be discussed.

It is a nutty place over there, which is why I haven't visted in a LONG time.

You are imaging it though, lossless isn't much if any better

Lee. Both those topics you posted can be put in the 'Will blu ray sputter on the market?' thread.

And the deep color option will most likely be used in PS3 games.

Is Rboster locking them on ya Lee? I've never liked that turd. I knew my AVS posting was going to reach an all time low when he became a mod.

Hell, before he was a mod he pretended to be one.

I love HDF.

HDD is way too childish (and Kosty is king there *puke*), BD.com is a wall banger site (the head banging smiley needs to die, NOW), HTF is just bland.

So HDF is the place to be.

EDIT: Just checked. Rubin and PooperScooper got ya eh? Mark can be alright. I sent him a PM with the entire OP of a thread I was going to start, he OK'd it and said that would be fine, then I started the thread, it got locked and I got a point

I think even with the fires that erupt here, this IS the place to be. As long as people respect the freedom and do not abuse this freedom this is where to be PERIOD!

I just can't see how anyone could not get along with you Lee

How could your posting rub anyone the wrong way?

I've taken a break as well. I posted in the camcorder forum about my miniDV cam only to get flamed and shouted down for not having an HD cam.

The playstation forum there is alright, thought they dive a little to deep into the Linux aspects for my tastes.

I like it here. You don't have to pay them $200 a year to have an avatar, which seems like a status symbol at AVS. If you're not a gold club member, your posts are from the peanut gallery. If you are a gold club member with an avatar you could post about the New York Yankee football team supporting HD-VMD and instantly have 20 people agreeing with anything you say.

Hmmmmm . .

Over at AVS - in the last 2.5 hours . . . HDSM Forum - 4 posts - on the same thread and two of them are mine. It is totally dead. They are still moving and locking threads. Pretty soon . . . no more HDSM Forum.

HDSM has outlived its use. Almost 90% of the threads can be moved to the Blu Ray Software forum.

I'm inclined to agree with you. I think AVS would see a lot less trolling if that happened too, as that is the forum that see's most of the "Smackdown".

What's HDSM forum?

I like to visit avsforum, blu ray dot com forum and highdefforum but I don't think I've been to this HDSM forum...
