Default Batman Gotham Knight

Warner has confirmed a July 8th release for Batman Gotham Knight. Yep The Dark Knight will not be the only Batman movie out this summer. This anime will feature six different shorts in six different animated styles similar to The Animatrix. It will be set between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Bruce Timm apparently will be the director a man who has proven himself a master of Batman storylines having already worked on the excellent Mask of the Phantasm and Return of the Joker which before the release of Batman Begins were better then any live action Batman movies. Since this is suppose to be in the Chris Nolen continuity I really hope the movie actors including Christian Bale provide the voices. I am really looking forward to this.

I am gonna be in Europe for 3 months when this and the movie comes out.

I'll probably never get to see it on the big screen.

awesome. wasn't Bruce Timm involved in the early 90s animated Batman series as well? and the newer Batman, Superman, and Justice League tv shows?

Thats right and all were great. Hell its hard to find a single peice of quality DC animation over the last 15 years that Timm didn't have some involvement in. Justice League was my personal favorite series of his due to its epic scope and action sequences while keeping the same quality stories. I believe he shinned most in his movies because they didn't have the limits of the censors. Timm and his crew were always limited in how dark they could make it to never go beyond PG violence. This PG-13 movie doesn't really resemble his pervious movies in terms of animation style but looks plenty dark and plenty adult. Here is a video look at Batman Gotham Knight. Hurry up and watch it before it gets taken down. Early work looks absolutly excellent.

thanks for the link, it was a great little video. the Return of the Joker was awesome, and i loved how they did the flashbacks to show how things went so wrong with Robin. i haven't gotten the chance to see the Superman vs. Doomsday or Justice League: The New Frontier yet, but plan to soon.

Superman Doomsday was a pretty good but definutly not great effort. It had some truely awsome action sequences and some nice character devolopment but some plot elements felt a bit cliqhe. Still it was a huge improvement over the awful Superman Brainac Attacks.

What I really wonder is whether we will ever see anything set in the DC animated universe continuity again. Batman the Animated Series, Superman the animated series, Batman Beyond, Static Shock, Zeta Project, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, and animated movies Mask of the Phantasm, Subzero, and Return of the Joker all are in the same continuity of each other and its interesting that one series would frequently reference the events of another. However none of the currently scheduled animated movies are in that continuity. Batman Gotham Knight is in continuity with Chris Nolens live action Batman movies and Superman Doomsday and Justice League New Fronteir are in continuity with nothing but themselves. Having grown up with that old DC animated universe it would be a shame if it never gets more content.

i hear you, i just wish i was a little older when the first Batman series was on as i wasn't able to really appreciate it until later. i loved Justice League, but never got into JL Unlimited just because i always missed it. i've been thinking about picking those series up on DVD as i really want to watch some of those episodes again (the Apokolips series on Earth namely).

Who is willing to bet that Batman Begins and the other live action Batman movies come out day to date with this on July 8th. Makes sense that Warner would want to promote The Dark Knight with as many Batman Blu-Rays as they can release.
