Default Spielberg-directed movie on HD-DVD Oct. 9, how come nobody's mentioned this?

With all of the hoo-ha, hullabulloo, riff-raff and fiddle-faddle about Spielberg, Bay, and other has-been directors' ("oh no he didn't!") opinions on HD-DVD and BD, I can't believe nobody's mentioned Twilight Zone, in which an entire segment directed by Spielberg appears. Does this mean any Spielberg/WB movie could appear on HD-DVD and he won't complain?

No one and I mean no one wants to be associated with that movie. Actor Vic Morrow (Combat) was killed on the set along with some children.

I don't think Spielburg has a problem with his movies coming to HD-DVD as long as a Blu-Ray version is avalible.

He's recording an intro for the BD of Close Encounters, and he vetoed Jaws, didn't he?

You know, this guy let his movies appear on CED. Why is he so choosy now?

Unfortunately, I think ANY studio that has the rights to a Spielberg film will STILL get his approval because NO studio wants to tick him off.

I swear some of these guys have egos the size of the moon. He should have no problem with ANY movie he didn't contract to control the release of, but his talent & ego makes everyone in follywood bow to him.

That would be all of his pre-E.T. Universal titles including:

Duel (made for T.V. but formatted for theaters in Europe)
The Sugerland Express (brilliant film... his first official theatrical release)
Jaws
1941

Actually he's not all-powerful. He backed out of the Harry Potter films because the author wouldn't let him cast Haley Joel Osment--or any American for that matter.

I used to like Spielberg as a person, but he's becoming really irretating & rediculous, Universal has the right to Jaws, E.T. & Jurasic Park Trilogy, Schindler's List etc. And Paramount has the right to War of the Worlds, Indiana Jones" Series, etc.

Universal & Paramount/DreamWorks are not the only studios hes dealt with, so I think its only fair to release the HD DVD exclusive films from Universal & Paramount/DreamWorks, and his Warner Bros. films should go to both formats.

I know he is a Blu-Ray supporter, but he also somewhat respects both formats.

And I am sick of hearing that Blu-Ray would have been the winner in the end of Q4 2007, LOL, in a million years maybe. HD DVD still sold more players

One more time . . .

Because of his success with E.T. SS negioated a video release clause in all his contracts. That means that the studio can show the movie ANY time it wants in a theater. But when it comes to releasing that movie to video - he has to green light that decision or NO video release.

And because he is SS he is exercising that right where it doesn't exist like Jaws and the movies he previously made before E.T.

Studios do not want to piss him off. So they comply with his wishes.

Yes they own the movies - and no they can't release them when they feel like it.

Actually Blu-Ray has sold over 5 times as many players. Most can also play games so what. Even if it wasn't this war will not be decided by hardware but by software which Blu-Ray continues a 2 to 1 dominance.
