So they announced they're releasing titles this year. Did you think they wouldn't? Otherwise, how is this news?

Oh, and it's already being discussed in a number of other threads. Once again, you've started a redundant thread. Good job.

I hate to say it but I agree this thread is redundant

Wow, Mr. Smith agreeing with Mr. HD?

I just hope that the HD-DVD crowd finally starts announcing their upcoming slate as I want to know what movies I need to start budgeting for purchases. I also really they would hurry up and finally give HP:GOF a release date.

The way things are right now, I would say Blu-Ray is the underdog of the two format. America loves the underdog and so do I. Should I be rooting for BD?

Yes. Blu-ray has been the underdog since its release. It's funny to see people refer to HD DVD as the underdog. Well, I guess after CES 2007, there is a bit of truth there...

HD DVD was the underdog long before either format was released. It dug itself out of that position with a combination of quality and luck.

They put out top-rate software and gave us first rate customer support in the form of several firmware updates. They consistently delivered top-notch video and audio.

They were also lucky that Sony, and BD as a whole, stumbled out of the gates. They were unapologetically pushing inferior encodes that were made from inferior transfers. They also stripped extras off of their inital releases, which further set them apart from the competition, which already had price as a big advantage.

In my opinion, HD DVD earned their right to be more highly regarded than BD. Sony could have destroyed HD DVD, but their arrogance got in the way, once again.

As for CES, you can interpret it anyway you want....

True but Blu-Ray isn't a Sony product. Sony is just one of many supporting companies

Minidisc - 100% Sony
UMD - 100% Sony
Betamax - Mostly Sony
Blu-Ray - Not even close to just Sony

Without Sony, there would be no Blu-Ray. Period.

If Sony backed out of Blu-Ray tomorrow, it would die.
