So the general trend between now and mid September will be gradually upward with some larger upward bumps between now and when the summer releases start showing up .

Now that we have moved beyond the start of the 2Q 2011 higher volume comparison revenue weeks there are not that many strong 2011 weeks left until September.

Even this week with its modest revenues was still up 24% from the matching week for last year and improved the cumulative metric by a percent.

There will be many opportunities like that in the next 20 or so weeks coming up for incremental gains like that and the general trend will be biased upward with strong inertia to steadily move upward.
Maybe next week.

Well I was talking over the next five month period, this week didn't do it.

Probably could not expect much here YoY with a chick flick very modest box office New Years Eve going against The Green Hornet from last year.

Still Blu-ray did not lose much ground either in the cumulative stat.

Its more like the other thing I said in the same post:

Here is the best guess I have right now of the scheduled $25 M+ releases compared with last years reported TBO for the remaining weeks of the 2Q comparison period.

Things start improving as the quarter moves along with more chances to improve that metric coming.

Depends on box office more than anything, but after seeing MI Ghost Protocol week get only $28 million, I'm not optimistic we'll have any really strong weeks ($40 million plus) until we get to September.

$22 million is only $2 million more than the lowest week of all Q2 last year. Also the BD share is only a couple of points above last year

Here is a table of Blu-ray total revenue share (TotRev) vs. top 20 unit share (T20units) and top 20 revenue share (T20rev - estimated by adding 25% to the unit share). The quarterly revenue figure (Revenue) is in millions. Totals by quarter.

The purpose is to compare T20 market share growth vs. overall growth. Notice that the T20 revenue share is approximately double the overall share.

Code:
Year	T20units TotRev	T20rev	Revenue
Q109	10.6%	7.0%	13.3%	160
Q209	10.7%	8.5%	13.4%	187
Q309	14.0%	9.8%	17.5%	200
Q409	22.1%	13.0%	27.6%	522
Q110	24.0%	13.7%	30.0%	370
Q210	28.2%	17.0%	35.3%	363
Q310	22.8%	14.7%	28.5%	267
Q410	31.4%	20.6%	39.3%	800
Q111	32.4%	19.7%	40.5%	407
Q211	34.7%	21.7%	43.4%	397
Q311	34.6%	24.2%	43.3%	422
Q411	43.4%	27.0%	54.3%	925
Q112	36.2%	23.8%	45.3%	479
Q212	38.6%	22.9%	48.3%	144

Remember Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol nothing helping from the two weeks before it and nothing much after so it was pretty much on its own and its impact was spread over two weeks with the HMM Sun-Sat revenue stats.

When the better releases start coming them will have some residual sales of the previous weeks adding on and the Sunday release week sales as well as 2nd 3rd week cascading for additional revenues as well.

Act of Valor John Carter and Sherlock Holmes weeks should be much better but even the next few weeks are an improvement.

Releasing Act of Valor ($70M Box Office), John Carter ($70M Box Office), Journey 2 ($100M Box Office), and Safe House ($126M Box Office), all in the same week in June, does not strike me as being a great idea.

Well last year about that time was also a $400 box office week as well so its really something that has happened before.

John Carter is pushed forward and has an earlier AAR time to release than usual so that some residual theatrical marketing will still be in play and that's the latest announced release.

But they obviously will step on each other to a certain degree.
