It's cute you guys think we'd do this to get paid. This thread has only had 20,000 hits, and most of them are from the same 6 or so people. I really only post because I hear things that conflict with my perception of logical thought, and I just want to know I'm thinking straight. It usually means I was right if nobody corrects me but attacks me or circle jerks me.

BTW, did I miss something? Last I heard BD sales might have been around $2.15 Billion. Does that mean BD rentals increased from around $500 million in 2010 to $850 million in 2011?

It may even peak this year. I don't know if I should feel sad or laugh at these guys.
Your technique is to laugh at anyone who doesn't participate in the neverending fanboy/format bashing circle jerk. I say get off your ass and bring an actual argument to the discussion instead of waving your pompoms like everyone else.

I have provided an argument. You just can't counter it. Obviously you agree with Kosty that Bluray will eventually hit 8 Billion. I think you guys are crazy to think that. Show me how you think this is even possible with the growth rates we are seeing? And please take into consideration the years people have predicted Bluray peaking. Want to play?

I don't think you get paid. I think you are a super bitter Bluray fanboy who can't accept Blurays lackluster performance. Hey at least you got the format war win to make yourself feel better.

Nice try. But your echoing of the attack from mikemorel involving a number of ambiguous/false claims that weren't even relevant to my post, does not qualify as an argument.

The only thing obvious is your reliance on false accusations and ad hominem attacks. As I said, bring me something relevant and in direct response to what I've said in the previous page.

The only thing I'm bitter about is people like you who rarely if ever reply to posts that I spend quite a lot of effort and thought on. It just shows that you don't like hearing dissenting opinions or being corrected, and would rather we all just go back to the simple days of attacking each other's biases. I'd rather not waste my time.

So you didn't vote in that poll? Weird... Your name must have gotten hacked!

A page ripped directly from the book of Kosty. Use "ad hominem attacks" as a way to get away from being backed into a corner. Sorry, that doesn't work here.

What poll do you think Mal was referring to when he said this?

This one, obviously:

For one, ad hominem attacks themselves don't logically back anyone into a corner. All they do is overwhelm the person with having to reply to a bunch of baseless attacks day in and day out. I applaud Kosty for putting up with as much as he has on HDD when you were around. He's not perfect, he falls for the same stuff over and over and dishes out the attacks on occasion, but he has shown good intent at times I would not be able to stay composed.

Secondly, ad hominem attacks are themselves irrelevant to a discussion, by definition. The key to a good forum is that people discuss posts they disagree with instead of just the poster. Otherwise they have no point. If this thread does turn into nothing but ad hominem attacks like Smackdown, then, well, I'm sure the mods aren't going to like all the extra policing they'll have to start doing. If it wasn't ok at Smackdown it's going to be frowned upon on more behaved forums like this one.

Looks like I was optimistic in that poll. When was it taken?

Blu-ray in 2011 was $2.15 billion sell through plus rental. In 2010 rental was $500 million, but unfortunately for 2011 the DEG didn't give any breakdown for Blu-ray rental. I would guess between $600 and $700 million, so using the average of those 2 guesses, that would put the total revenue at around $2.8 billion. It obviously has a long way to go to get to $6 billion.

Just a friendly reminder, this is the post we are supposedly discussing, and yet I don't see how any of it relates. It all went off-track when mike and mal responded.

If they did 2011 would be far more even with 2012 in terms of release strength. Also, there were a couple 2012 BO releases (Courageous and Paranormal Activity 3) that were in genres that either don't convert well to Blu-ray (courageous) or don't sell as much in proportion to their bo on home video period (Paranormal Activity)

I'll address your post soon, but first I need to do a little homework of my own.

I wasn't referring to any poll. You obviously agree with Kosty. Do you not? Correct me if I'm wrong. Do you not think Bluray will achieve 8 billion?

Cakefoo is the only guy I know that can cry and accuse people of attacks and tell people to grow up. And then attack and act like a child on the same page. LOL!
