Default Are you excited about 3D BD?

I got chance to see a 3D TV the other day and i must admit it was really impressive. There was a Black Eyed Peas concert and the 3D effect was fantastic, much better than i thought it would be. There was also some Athletic 100 metre sprint demo shown and it really was like you was in lane 9 right next to the race. It felt like the T.V was bottomless and you could reach your hand in! I am very excited about the possibilities of 3D BD in the future if they can get a decent amount of titles available and i am definatly looking at getting a 3D TV next. What do you think about 3D BD?

The Panasonic VT25's are amazing 3D displays, they have a Panny Demonstration disc which shows a Star Wars type of ship coming out of the Black skies and as you step off center you can actually see around and behind the images. It's very well done.

If it means wearing glasses and/or losing resolution, no.

Very excited!

Always been a fan of 3D. And now, for the first time ever, we will have high quality, high resolution, true full color stereoscopic 3D available to us in our homes.

It sure beats the crap out of Anaglyph 3D - hands down and that has been pretty much the only 3D available to us until now.

I have no issues with wearing glasses. I know that when I see a 3D movie, I wear glasses. Just like when I went scuba diving - I wore a mask. No big deal.

The current pickings for 3D BD are slim, but that is going to change and soon. I am patient - been there, done that, got the T-Shirt - bought my first HDTV in 1997 (FPTV)

If glasses, mainly animated titles, and movies not originally made in 3d are involved then no.

The only 3D I have seen so far is Avatar. I thought it was great from a visual perspective, but I couldn't care less if every film and TV show remained 2D. I wasn't THAT amazing to me.

Very excited! I finish paying the loan on my car in June next year and the first thing I shall do with the spare cash is buy a Panosonic VT25 and some decent 3D content.

I too could not care less about having to wear glasses. I wear glasses anyway and most people do so to spend a couple of hours in the sun so what's the problem?. People make far too big a deal about the glasses in my opinion.

I don't think 3D lends itself to everything, just like colorizing B&W films. And the glasses are out for me. I'd have to get a minimum of 4 pairs, most likely 8.

I'll just buy a few Pioneer Kuros that people sell when they switch to 3D.

Yeah, I'd like some more 3D BD films...namely some stuff not for kids (pretty excited about Resident Evil Afterlife).

But mostly for me my interest in 3D has to do with gaming, not movies...

Like I told a friend of mine some time back, I was not all that ga-ga over HiDef television by itself, but after I saw my first 3D HiDef demo, I knew I had to have it. So I mortgaged the farm, did my research, got a Mitsu 73" and am now anxiously waiting for my upgraded DirecTV receiver, 3D adapter kit and Panasonic BluRay player so I can see some actual 3D stuff. I hear the demo disk that comes with the Panasonic 3D BluRay player is amazing, but what I really can't wait for is that first 3D football game!!

I was very sceptical about how good it could be till i saw that first demo. WOW! I don't think the glasses are that big an issue, you are only going to wear them for a couple of hours, its not like you are going to be watching 3D all the time. I am also interested in seeing some live action movies and seeing how well they turn out. I do think that sports in 3D could be the killer app though.

Thumbs up 3d

I wear glasses, anyway, so it's no big deal for me. In fact, I find the Panasonic glasses to be very comfortable, and even forget that I am wearing them ( something you can't do with an LCD 3D TV due to the VERY limited viewing angles ). I was already planning to purchase a new Panny plasma this year, anyway, so getting the VT25 was a no brainer for me. I have the best HDTV manufactured today, and the fact that it is 3D is a bonus.

Hi Si, very good thread. I love my football, and baseball. If it looked really good, I would probably have to buy one!

Does this mean 3D camcorders are next?

Hey Brat, yeah i would imagine they will be coming out some time in the future. We have just had our first 3D camera with two lenses released over here so i would imagine Camcorders will follow. 3D seems to be the big thing for the manufacturers right now.

I'm so sick of every single kids movie being in 3-D. I refuse to take my little cousins to go see anything. I hate the regular theaters.
