Default How to make a CD that can play in my DVD player?

Can I just take a bunch of MPEG files, drag them from my C: drive to the CD burner drive, and that will work in my Sony DVD player?

If your Sony will play mp3, yes.

If your Sony DVD player supports this kind of file playback, sort of like some support mp3 playback from data-discs, it might work. You should check the specs of your player for that.

Normally you would have to author a DVD (or a SVCD/VCD if you want to use CD-R) with the MPEG files in order to work, but i guess you know that.

P.S.

i guess you are asking about video files and not audio files?

Well, MPEG can mean both video or audio, so i guess Troy will need to give us some further info on his plans.

Well it doesn't matter. My CD burner is dead. It "ate" my blank disc by plunging the lens into the platter & gouging out a large ring of destruction. Nice.

I'll just watch my stuff on my PC's CRT.

My HD-upscaling DVD player is mostly gathering dust these days. My PC is hooked up to my HDTV and displaying 1920x1080p60 quite nicely. Most of my media is .WMV, .MPG and .AVI. So I skip the whole burning to CD-R/DVD-R and play the stuff right from my 500GB hard drive!

HTPC (home theatre PC) is highly recommended. It can play games, DVDs, anything you download online, show pictures, play music from your playlists, act as DVR (a.k.a. TIVO), etc.

electric will probably want to get a home theater or even a HDTV before jumping into a HTPC. I could be wrong though since he has a HD tape recorder.
