Default Thought it would be a bit easyer...

I am going nuts now trying to hook my 61inch hdtv dlp RCA tv up to my computer in 720p. I have used a DVI cable and a Keydigital Clearcolor3 with no sucsess. i can hit 540p with the dvi cable but no farther. My Video card is a ATI Radeon 9500pro. Anyone know anywhere i should go for more info or know themselfs? I have found through quite a few spots that my tv supports the 720p.

ATI has a component connection adapter for PC to TV for its late model Radeon line that includes most, it not all of the 9000 series cards. Forget what it's called. Check with their website.

There is a utility that you can download to see what your TV is telling your PC it will be able to receive. Download here: MonInfo

It may be that the ATI card is outputting at the wrong scan rate. Most TVs in the US require 60Hz and the 720 (or 768) in the computer world is more like 75Hz. My Catylist drivers for my ATI Radeon card will allow me to set the scan rate. You might also look into the PowerStrip software that will allow you to set up your PC's graphics card to different resolutions, front and back porches as well as different scan rates. The software is downloadable here: http://entechtaiwan.net/util/ps.shtm

I have connected many HDTVs to PC and even though you think it should just work, I have found out that there is a lot to get through. They never work like you expect with the overscan issue being the most troublesome because you can not get the entire desktop to show up on the TV. Some of it is off the screen.

I use mine to show digital pictures and to run my Music Match Jukebox software. If you were thinking of using your TV in place of a monitor, I'd rethink that.
