Default Wet Camcorder and Error Message

My camera got splashed with salt water while it was on and rather then immediately turning it off as I should have, I tried shaking the water off of it. Well, needless to say, that didn't work and I actually heard some sizzling and popping then it shut off. So I closed it up. left it alone for a few weeks, and now it does turn on, but then gives the error message "this battery can not be used" and then shuts off. I have four batteries, three of which are fully charged, and the error message is the same with all.

So is my poor splashed camera a lost cause do you think? Any idea what I might try?

If it is a lost cause, think it would be worth it to put it on Ebay for parts?

Thanks for any answers.

Salt water is the worse corrosive element, it has most likely corrupted electrical contacts and rendered it useless.
