Too bad Toshiba doesn't offer any new updates anymore.

They don't need to offer any more updates since there are no new movie releases...

Does anyone know where I can get the firmware update ISO files for the Toshiba HD A35KU? I bought it used and it is at 1.0/1.1 - The web references at the beginning of this thread no longer work.

This unit I got real cheap plays all but two of 17 HD movies. One gave an error code (408bc504) - I got no idea what that means.
The other spun in "loading" for 10 minutes then quit with the following message: "Failed to verify the content. the playback is stopped." All the other movies played just fine.

Is this unit full 1080p? Some scenes look like 720p? I got the res set at "up to 1080p", but, the same HD discs seem a tad higher rez when played via an HTPC.

I hope someone is still checking this thread.

Yes, the HD-A35 is 1080p. Have you simply tried to connect the player to the Toshiba site to see if it picks up the firmware update? I wasn't aware that Toshiba had discontinued providing firmware updates. The instructions for direct player download are found in this thread, it is very easy. If the updates are no longer available, someone should have saved a download, I think I have all other US Toshiba 1080p HD DVD players firmware final updates but apparently not the HD-A35, I just checked.

The loading problem may be disc related, not firmware in any event.

As of last fall I knew someone who connected an HD XA2 that they had in storage and did the web based update and it was still available, so I was told. I'd try that first.

They followed the instructions to connect their player to the Internet in the owners manual and did the online firmware update process and it was still live (as I was told, I did not do it myself).

Be careful not to turn off your player mid process but allow it to complete the update by itself.

AVS Forum also had links to firmware and procedures that had comments as recent as last fall in the Blu-ray and HD DVD > HD DVD Player sub forum.
