Default sony considering offering a new model with 80gb hdd..........

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/780/780948p1.html

oh no the sky is falling. sony is doing what ms is about to do and screw over its customers by releasing an upgraded version of the ps3 before its even a year old(like some of you fan boys are saying about the elite). dam its so funny to watch this unfold. these companies are going for the gold this time around. why wouldnt sony do this you know there gonna be selling there movies on there network soon and the more space the more most gamers will be able to buy/rent.

20gb doesn't seem like a big upgrade at all. At least offer 100gb or more. MS went from 20 to 120.

Maybe they have so many extra 20GB hard drives left over from the dead core PS3 package that they are just making use of extra stock. I think if they drop the price of the premium to 500 and set the new model at 600 they just might have a winning strategy.

yeah, there will definitely be some sort of reasoning and explanations from the sony fanboys, even they even bother to post anything at all i remember pretty much all of them jumping and voicing their opinions about how microsoft was screwing all 360 owners by releasing an updated version after ONLY a year and a half....now it looks like sony is going to release a new version LESS than a year after the PS3 was released......yup, definitely going to be some good excuses from the sony boys on this one and i can't wait to hear some of them.......(*chirp*chirp*)..hmm...nothing yet

I think it's somehow going to coincide with the addition of "rumble" in their controllers. They'll release a new model with a bigger hard drive & the "Rumble" is back. They have something up their sleeve. MS introduces bigger hard drive & HDMI, Sony bigger hard drive & Rumble!!

all those "early adopters" of the beta version of the ps3 will feel ripped off they didn't get rumble and a larger harddrive for the 600 clams they shelled out i actually think it is kind of dumb for sony to have discontinued the 20gb to replace it with an 80gb version. there is going to be again only 20gb difference between the "cheap" version and the more expensive version. at least microsoft put in a 120gb harddrive with their elite package that added 6x the harddrive space of the model below it, and twice that of the top ps3 version. you would figure that the geniuses over at sony would put in AT LEAST 100gb or more for the harddrive....but then again, this is sony we are talking about. it's funny how they will soon incorporate the "last-gen technology" of rumble, according to sony itself if that is true lol

wow, if sony comes with rumble it will be the biggest b.s. thrown in there customers faces ever. everyone here knows sony didnt include rumble since they got sued over it. there excuse was b.s. saying rumble is so last gen and isnt in there plans. if this happens then once again sony will look so foolish.

so i seriously doubt rumble will be included.

This is never going to happen. 20GB is too small of an upgrade and any PS3 owner can upgrade their HDD by just buying an external HDD.

it's going to happen somewhere, either in north america or in japan because sony had filed a report with the FCC for a spec of a 80gb PS3....the report with the FCC is NOT a rumor.

quick thought....sony could be testing the waters before they jump in by having this information "leaked" to see what kind of response it draws from gamers and the gaming community. they could very well file an amendment to the FCC report for a larger harddrive if they wanted to once they realize not many people would be thrilled with a simple 20gb upgrade...
