Default PS3 availability and question for online hookup

i was at CC to pick Xbox 360 and to my surprise they have 7 PS3 in stock, i picked the 60 GB PS3. i was surprised because best buy was giving ticket for 15 PS3 they had, to the people lined outside.

my question is do i need wireless adapter (as in Xbox 360) to hookup online wireless or i can connect to my wireless router by setting up password in PS3.

I am planning to use HDMI to connect to my TV or receiver.

only the 6GB version has built in WiFi(wireless internet connectivity). both versions (20gb and 60gb) have bluetooth, the PS3 controller(sixaxis) uses bluetooth, you can also register any bluetooth device like a headset.

so you where "surprise" to see PS3's in stock... do you see whats happening.. alot of people are not looking for PS3's because they are assuming its sold out everywhere.. then all of a sudden they realize "oh hey they do have PS3's in stock!?" about 3 days ago i was at my local Walmart and they had 4 60GB PS3's in the glass cabinet where they keep all the games. No Wii's... people are going crazy buying the Wii for the holidays because of its beyond cheap price, personally i wouldnt pay crap for a Wii as it offers nothing i want and is just another gamecube with a wireless motion controller.

although PS3 is expensive and might be out of reach for lot of people it sure does have lot of technology built in to it and if you compare Xbox 360 with same features the price is almost same as PS3 60GB.
Xbox 360 pricing is very good for lot of people though and with more games than PS3 SONY have a tough competition this time, they have to lower the price of console to go ahead and compete with Wii and Xbox 360,

Xbox 360 with WIfi And HD DVD (400+100+200= $700) is more than 60GB PS3, on the other side Xbox can be bought for $300 for gamer who do not need HD DVD or Wifi, he might end up buying it later and pay more money for accessories but at least he is in.

I still feel it all comes down to choice. All those extras aren't really needed for gaming, especially having to buy into an unproven format. I want to be able to choose either A or B after there is a winner, or pick one now. That's up to me. That's the same as saying well I just bought a new car, and it's loaded to the max. It came with a plasma induced turbo booster, a hologram matrixed HD screen, and a tri-molecular nuclear powered onboard navigation control system. Of course all those goodies will be a terrific deal when buying them all together. On paper, you can't beat it. Just look at all the money you'll save.

that is my point, Xbox 360 pricing is very intelligent, if SONY is to beat established Xbox360 they need to match their pricing for starters, even at the expense of making some features as an options as compared to standard.

The PS3 will do fine. The person buying one has made the choice- They want an all in one machine. Our PS3 is working great, connects to the internet effortlessly right out of the box. The game choices, right now, are the only major downfalls for the PS3, but we all know that's gonna change. Just want gaming? Buy the 20G PS3

true you dont need Wifi nor the HD-DVD add on. but i see his point though in terms of how much technology is packed into the system and why its so much and that you do get your moneys worth considering how much stuff you get (4usb, multi memory card, HDMI, 3x larger HDD then 360, blu-ray player, WiFi & bluetooth.

I thought this was funny. Just replace Wii with PS3 and gamecube with PS2 and you get my opinion.
