Wait, so 3D had to overcome the hurdle of wearing glasses, but having to strap a VR unit to your face (rendering you blind to your actual surroundings) isn't a hurdle for VR???

Honestly, I'd love to try VR, but I cannot picture myself sitting in my office with my wife home with a VR unit strapped to my face. I just won't do it.

I mean, 3D was featured on every decent movie for a pretty long span, and on every decent TV made for the same span. There were real 3D movies, then basically every movie started simulating it, and the quality declined. Then suddenly it just died, and now it's gone. I could easily see that happening with VR
