Well, hellooooo boys....
Dragon Age: Inquisition — 9/10 Hands down one of the most fun games I've play in a VERY long time. Story kept me hooked, side quests kept me going, graphics were pretty good considering the age of the game. I would actually say I almost enjoyed it more than Skyrim. Almost. The only thing I'll knock it for is the weapon and armor variety. I used the same four staffs for the entirety of the game. The opening staff, one I found about 5 hours in, one I found about 20 hours in, and then finally one I crafted that lasted me the rest of the 50+ hours after that. I played the FUCK out of this game. The amount of exploration was insane. Each map was so well designed. DA:2 was so constricted with the maps — very linear. That must have been a primary complaint from players that Bioware answered with a "we hear you". If you haven't played this game due to a backlog like I have... do it in the next one you play. Crysis 3 — 5/10 BOOOOORRRRINGGGG..... The first one was fun. The second one was less fun. The third one was not fun. No depth to the story. I went in with the expectation of it being a fast game, but 5 hours? That's pretty bad. Maybe it had more longevity for multiplayer? I mean, Gears OW had some pretty decent story longevity. That said, I'm kinda glad it wasn't longer. I needed it to be a "filler" between my next big game. And for that it worked. But man... it's bad. |

I played a little of the demo weekend. It's destiny, with robots.

I finished the Story Mode on "For Honor" because it was free in the PSN+ store thing this month. It was, kind of fun. The combat is interesting, the story was generic. I then tried to play online, and it's just a mess. If you don't spend real money and buy upgraded characters you may as well just masturbate while you watch the combat unfold. Get a lot more pleasure that way. However, a 7 hour story campaign with decent graphics and a mildly unique fighting system. It was worth playing.
Oh, worst part of online. I couldn't figure out how to turn off voice chat fully. Then I got to listen to some, I'm assuming black lady, talk to her friends for 30 minutes about their shoes, purses, and vaginas. |

Mass Efect: Andromeda – 7/10
This was way more fun than I think people gave it credit for. There are definitely shortcomings as has been pointed out by reviewers and players alike. My issues with it are mostly story/environment based, but nothing so terrible I felt I was just slogging through it to finish it. There are some serious plot holes that were glaringly obvious within the first few hours of playing. One of them... The Initiative didn't think anything could change in the 600+ years it took to get them to Andromeda? My other main issue... There's only one native species in the entire galaxy? One? Just one? The Kett aren't native to Andromeda so that leaves the Angarran. And in general, the writing tries hard to be all things to all people. But if you can get past those and enjoy it for what it is, it's actually fun. The gameplay is standard fare, but I didn't find it to be broken in the original trilogy so I didn't have any expectations for something "better". The characters were actually more likable this go round in my opinion. Especially the Pathfinder. And not that I look for this in a game, but since BioWare is keen on doing it, I appreciate being able to take my character down same-sex romance paths. And this is probably the best example I've seen yet. I really enjoyed the relationship angle that Gil offered. I do hope we get a sequel. There's a teaser at the end, and hopefully the negative reviews don't kill the possibility. |
