This was way more fun than I think people gave it credit for. There are definitely shortcomings as has been pointed out by reviewers and players alike. My issues with it are mostly story/environment based, but nothing so terrible I felt I was just slogging through it to finish it.

There are some serious plot holes that were glaringly obvious within the first few hours of playing. One of them... The Initiative didn't think anything could change in the 600+ years it took to get them to Andromeda? My other main issue... There's only one native species in the entire galaxy? One? Just one? The Kett aren't native to Andromeda so that leaves the Angarran. And in general, the writing tries hard to be all things to all people.

But if you can get past those and enjoy it for what it is, it's actually fun. The gameplay is standard fare, but I didn't find it to be broken in the original trilogy so I didn't have any expectations for something "better". The characters were actually more likable this go round in my opinion. Especially the Pathfinder. And not that I look for this in a game, but since BioWare is keen on doing it, I appreciate being able to take my character down same-sex romance paths. And this is probably the best example I've seen yet. I really enjoyed the relationship angle that Gil offered.

I do hope we get a sequel. There's a teaser at the end, and hopefully the negative reviews don't kill the possibility.

I recall reading a brief plot summary and being completely disgusted by it.

The negative reviews and fan reaction definitely killed anymore Mass Effect for a long while. That team was completely dissolved and all the planned DLC canceled.

Spider-Man PS4

I had to put this game off for a long time since I sliced a tendon in my thumb last year and rehab took a long ass time but man this was worth the wait. Webslinging around New York is so much fun. The combat is deep and the boss fights were pretty good. Only complaint was some of the stealth sections where you play as other characters didn't work as well as they could have. 9.5/10

I really really wanted to play this game, but after 1 year of exclusively PC gaming following my massive PC expansion, there's no fucking way I'm going to play some 30FPS console game on a TV at this point. My eyes won't even accept 60FPS anymore. (I have a standard PS4, not a pro) I think I'm just done with console exclusives. I'll miss TLoU2 as well. RDR2 was the exception because I had an Xbox One X so it at least was at 4k

That. Whenever it dips below 60, it means it's time to set shadow or water effects down a notch. Maybe the PS5 will let you choose texture quality / performance / resolution. Really disappointed the Pro didn't. And still don't have one as a result.

Just another reason I'm done with consoles. If the game isn't on PC, I don't need to play it

I honestly canít remember the last game I played on PS4 before Spider-Man. Itís been well over a year, maybe even 2 years. Oh yeah, it was Uncharted: Lost Legacy in 2017. My PS4 is just a Netflix/HBO GO machine that I play games on once every 2 years.

I shoot for 60 at 1080p. Still on my plasma set, so no need for anything crazy. I'll get the newer RTX 2070 when the next next gen comes out. I'm not in a hurry by any means. Still maxing almost everything with my 1070. Of course, that's if they don't have a financially relevant upgrade with the 2170 comparable to the 870 to the 970. It was almost a 1:1 price wise. Excellent value.

My monitor is a 2560x1080 144hz so I usually shoot for 144hz. Like Destiny 2, I still play quite a bit and I cap it at 144fps and it usually stays around there. I'm generally shooting for a minimum of 72 (half the refresh rate) but I prefer over 100. I was playing AC Black Flag again and it's not very well optimized for higher FPS and it was usually in the 60's and it was annoying me

I went back and played it again recently. Still a great story. Graphics are a bit... ewww compared to recent entries, but I enjoyed going through it again.
