NVIDIA RTX 20XX Lineup Announced

And we can thank the fucking cryptocurrency craze for the prices...

Link here to a Verge article.

2070 Starts at $500. I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but when the 970 launched at $329, the 1070 at $379, now to jump to $499? Eh... that's a bit much IMO.

And of course, all this after I just upgraded my CPU/Motherboard two weekends ago...

DWIW I git my 1070 asap aftr the initial founders run and street prices were pretty much $429 across most lines - EVGA, Asus, PNY, Zotac , MSI, Gogabyte.

Still $70 increase sucks ass. Probably will hold tight on my 1070 for a while can run everything at 1080/60 and most things 1440 at 45-60 depending . 4k - can usually get solid 30fps. Until 1080 games can't max or 4k at better rates becomes obtainable. Probably need a cpu/mobo upgrade first. from a 4690k to something in the i7 line

the mining craze jacked the market up so high, and nvidia knows they can get away with it now, with AMD not releasing anything near as good at a better price point yet.

This is what happens when there is no competition.

This is why it was good Ryzen was amazing.

It's about time... 10__ series came out like mid 2016. Also the GTX 1080 launched at $549...

I'm considering building a dedicated 4K gaming rig, if I do, this is a no-brainer purchase so long as they're available at MSRP.

Considering it's Nvidia's barebones, no special fans etc, MSRP of $379 for the 1070 to the $499 MSRP of the no special fans etc... That's $120. ASUS et al, will add their touches which will drive the prices higher than that.

Exactly this. I had posted the same thing with a gaymer group on Facebook and I got comment after comment about, prices go up, crypto has flopped so that's not why, etc etc. Meanwhile, all I'm saying is it comes across heavily as a cash grab. I hope AMD can come out with something stellar to compete with it.

The cycle from the 9xx series to the 10xx was 2 years as well. But this card is just overkill. GDDR6 is over the top right now. Hell, we don't even have GDDR5 as a standard for RAM yet.

All of this said, I do have some hope that they'll have an economy of scale / production for the following generation of chips. Kind of like how there the generations following the 5xx actually got a bit cheaper all things considered.

It was 18 months give or take between 9 and 10. 2.5 years between 10 and RTX

Ray tracing isn't a very good selling point. I'll hold onto my 1070.

I need a whole new rig. Won’t happen since I just bought new clubs. Took up golf after about 10 yrs away from it. Expensive habit .

Yep, I love the game as well but it can suck your wallet dry. Had planned on getting out more this summer but got distracted with photography and my regular partner was working weekends which made rounds tough.Golf and video games are two things that you can play until you're an old man though.
