Default Far Cry 5

Picked this up last week on an impulse while I was at the mall. Even on console, it's a beautiful game. I've had some framerate slow downs when there's too many planes on screen, but other than that it's a perfectly acceptable experience with the PS4-Pro.

The story, such as it is, is a bit distrubing, and disjointed honestly. You play as an unnamed rookie deputy sent to help a US Marshal peacefully arrest the leader of a religious cult in Montana. Things go poorly. Apparently the FBI was too busy to notice that these religious nutballs were building statues of their leader, giant signs in the mountains, and stockpiling an entire Vietnam war worth of munitions, planes, and guns.

So sure, the story is silly. Unless of course you realize that it's middle of nowhere Montana between two mountain ranges, and it starts to get a little concerning that maybe in our shitty country something like this could develop. Then you kill a bear with a rocket launcher after wing suiting down a mountain and you stop worrying about such things.

I'm not even a 1/3 of the way through, and I really like the gameplay. Super realistic fly fishing included!

The FarCry stories haven't been believable since the second one. But yeah, the gameplay usually makes up for it. 4 was a bit of an exception. Does this one still have the tower climbing to open/uncloud new areas?

I've played a couple hours on PC. It's fun no doubt, but I have a hard time getting into SP games nowadays

There is no tower climbing. They do a tease about it at the very beginning, but beyond that you unlock waypoints a lot more organically.

I bought the wife a terabyte SSD the other day at Amazon and it came with a free copy of Far Cry 5 - https://amzn.to/2w1LukJ

Amazon screwed up and sent 2 codes for the download, so I've been playing it too.

We cracked up at the David Karesh theme.

So just beat the game. Remember how everyone hated the ending to Mass Effect 3? This game? Way worst. Far Cry games never have a pleasant ending, and this one is no different. But it's just, not good. Jarring, disconcerting, but ultimately pointless.
