Default Official: Games You've Beaten 2018

Was surprised to see no 2018 thread started so here we go.

South Park: The Fractured but Whole

A- (90/100) overall a good game and if you are familiar with South Park the locations and lore are top-notch. If not it is still a funny romp through the fictional setting. This time you play as the new kid instead of one of the main characters and you choose and develop your powers and backstory as the game progresses and develop and fill your 4 man squad up with regulars from the show.
What keeps it from scoring higher is it does get a bit repetitive, is way to easy and overall pretty simple combat system.

If you like South Park at all or enjoyed the first one this one is a no-brainer.

I think when I looked on Steam, the reviews were mediocre. But I'd trust you in general given your taste in other things we have in common.

Realized I have a few I can add to this. And yes, I know they're old. Whatever

Resident Evil 6 7/10

I still preferred 4 over this, but that's most likely due to the forced co-op play. Dunno why, it just irks me to have to rely on the AI to do something. That said, I was impressed that the AI never screwed it up. The story was enjoyable with the exception of the AI character constantly saying, "I'll tell you all about it after X."

Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z 7/10

I enjoyed this take on NG gameplay. Although it got really repetitive after awhile. But it's short, so not too bad. Playing as the antagonist Yaiba was interesting, and that it still wove in Ryu as a character in the story and gameplay. The way it builds new weapons in is a bit trite, and ultimately makes it a bit annoying that it forces you to use certain ones on certain enemies. But it's not really clear which ones once you get past the first "example".

If you can get it cheap, check it out.

Although I give it an A- I don't think it commands the $60 full price tag - I got it for $30 and based on the amount of content and enjoyment that is about right.

The Bioshock collection . PS4 . 7.5- 10
I know it’s older but it’s basicaly the same games with some updated graphics .
Noticeable difference on bio 1 and 2 . The changes really stood out. Since BS: I came out later saw no real improvement other then it looked no different than the PC version I played when it came out. ( huge difference over ps3 version though , played a little of that one for comparison ). If you find it cheap for the PS4 and you liked the games it’s worth owning.

Yes. Go try him. There are a bunch of strategies and it's extremely hard. I mean extremely. Set aside a few hours. He has regen, a sidekick, can attack multiples, and charm your guys. He can get you into an infinite charm loop after you fought him for like a half our. You have him to a sliver of health and nobody to fight even though you have guys alive, they are charmed. Everything, I mean everything has to go perfect. Just go to his restaurant and hit him three times. He warns you after each hit and then it's on. Use Kenny as he can't be charmed when he's dead and can res a guy.

At this point, I don't think I'll beat a game in 2018. I haven't been playing much and the games I dick around in, I've beaten and are grinders like Injustice 2. I even dick around in gems of war. I'm scheduled to get baseball, so there's no beating that.

I bought a bundle of 360 action games on eBay a few months back for like $40... Had Bayonetta, Lollipop Chainsaw, X-Blades, Wet, Metal Gear Revengeance, and Yaiba in there. Haven't even cracked the last two open yet. You've inspired me to change that sir.

Revengeance was a lot of fun. Way more depth than Yaiba. So I would recommend you play Yaiba first since the gameplay is similar. Otherwise, you might feel a bit let down.

Infinite will not run properly on my rig. So frustrating. Microstuttering everywhere. Tried every fix on the internet - nothing worked. Fuckin pc gaming, Im considering the PS4 remasters...

Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin 8/10

Started with a strength/agility build, and really enjoyed it until I realized you lost health every time you died. That's just hateful. Watched a couple YouTube videos and learned to not be afraid to use lifegems. Also once you find the Ring of Binding which cuts the health reduction in half, it makes it much more bearable. Went with a hex build based on those videos. And now, at Soul Level 199 and over 100 hours put into it, I've beaten the main game and one of the DLC games. At this point, I'm kinda done. I'm not interested in the rest of the DLC as it's become a bit repetitive.

I did enjoy this more than the first one. It seemed more accessible for some reason. Probably due to playing as a caster as opposed to a melee build. Getting to the part where farming Human Effigies (humanity restoration) also made it a lot more freeing to stay Human.

Visually, it's a really great looking game. Loved playing at 60FPS.

Ultimately, I'm going to enjoy taking a break and playing FFXV now that I've gotten my settings tweak, but I'm looking forward to getting to DS3 after that.

Final Fantasy XV PC 3/10

Contains a possible spoiler.

Just don't. Or play it on a console. At least that way you can get relatively reliable performance to play the least "Final Fantasy feeling" Final Fantasy game ever. You can tell this was never meant to be a traditional numbered entry in the franchise. There's a reason it started out as an offshoot to 13. And it should have stayed that way. For this thing to have been in development for as long as it has been, and this is the end product... Complete waste.

Obviously things should evolve from one numbered entry to another. But there are things that should be constants. The victory fanfare is one of them. Rearrange it, sure. Remove it completely? No. And having Prompto fake one is just insulting.

Between the bugs that still haven't been adressed, the convoluted story that needed more time to properly explain things (like, WTF is the archeaon and why are we going there out of the blue?), the horrid voice acting, the lack of variety of enemies, but then that final boss? Really? You know it's bad when Hubby looks at me when it's done and says, "That's it? I thought you said this was a FF game. How is it he hasn't morphed into another form yet?"

To think I got some of the worst image retention in my display I've ever seen, and now can't seem to get rid of... fuck this game.

By the time it was all said and done, I hated FF8. And I liked it better than this.
