I don't see how anyone wouldn't like it, although TBH it's probably terrible with a gamepad. This game needs a mouse

The story and atmosphere are both super compelling. The game is very open, and it will really make you really want to explore every nook and cranny.

The weakest part is the gun-play probably (feels kinda like Bioshock in this regard) but it doesn't hurt the game much. I love it. It's one of my favorite single player games in recent memory

I'm fine with using a mouse, gonna give this a shot. The new Mass Effect looks just abysmal and this doesn't.

Why do you say it will be terrible with a gamepad? I liked the gunplay in Bioshock but maybe I'm in the minority on that

Well you're going to need high sensitivity. Those mimics jump around like headcrabs and you're constantly doing 180's. Also, you pick up a lot of items so having a mouse would make that easier.

I'm about 4 hours in. You were so right about searching every nook and cranny. This game is just starting to click for me. I was expecting this to be a shooter with a deep narrative, I wasn't expecting stealth and space survival horror type gameplay. Not a bad thing really, just not what I was expecting.

So, I have an ongoing love/hate relationship with this game.

Lots of influences with Bioshock/Dead Space/Dishonored. There is quite a bit of depth going on, especially when it comes to the abilities and how to best manage inventory and materials, depending on the type of build you are going for. Constant stress factor and very nerve-wracking on a survival front.

That leads me to the hate part. Is it just me, or is there a major difficulty imbalance in the game? I'm 13 hours in. Essentially at a section
Spoiler:
where I take all the transcribed voice recordings and enter a gravity area to restore some server
. I do a fair amount of exploring, but ALWAYS seem to be lacking medkits and ammo. To the point where I stealth or sprint pass gnarly stuff. And I'm only on "easy" game mode, so I must just work too much, and need to get gud. What's the deal here? I'm spending neuromods on health perks and upgrading my weapons as needed, so what gives?

I dunno about a difficulty imbalance, I haven't noticed that, but there are definitely pacing issues. I've been spending my neuromods on alien powers so that might be affecting any difficulty spikes in my game, they really come in handy and deal more damage than guns generally. I also have been playing with absolutely no morals, I've killed every human I come across- mind-controlled or not

Finished Prey last night. Really loved it, top to bottom. The ending is a little interesting. And aside from some really obnoxious laser shooting operator enemies (that are really difficult to kill) toward the end, I found the pacing and difficulty to be great.

I got a ton of time out of the game, mostly because I did the vast majority of the side missions. They don't really give you anything special, but they contribute to the story and atmosphere, which is what this game is all about.

I wish I would have installed this on the SSD however, because towards the end, you seem to spend more time in loading screens than playing, because you are constantly moving across the entire station, going through 2-3 zones to get to your objective

Are you collecting all the junk you find and recycling it? I don't think I ever dropped below 8 or 9 medkits the entire game, and never had less than 50 shotgun shells. In fact, I had a crazy abundance of ammo the entire game.

I didn't do any of the Typhon abilities except the mimic one (and also a quick dash/teleport) but I only used each one a couple of times. I just played with guns really.

Yeah, I only used psionic blast and mimic but they served me well. Dunno.. I've kind of lost interest in this game and don't know if I'm going to keep at it. Too many 'find the door keycard', etc objectives for my taste. I like detailed worlds in my games but at the end of the day I just want to shoot some damn aliens and let's be honest- the combat in Prey is shit. Plus the loading times on PS4 are ridiculous and happen way too often..
