Default AvP MP demo is Live!

Demo is on XBL. Downloading now. This is one of my most anticipated games of the year.

DEATH MATCH:
If you love a game with frantic, brutal chaos then Death Match in AVP multiplayer is for you. Itís all about getting the most kills in the time limit set. Players can also win the match by hitting the target score before anyone else.

INFESTATION:
For total over-whelming mayhem, nothing comes close to the tension and potential for pant-wetting scenarios than INFESTATION. One player starts the match as an Alien Hunter and their task is to kill the Marine prey. When a Marine player is killed they will join the Alien Hunter team and help to kill off any remaining Marines.

MIXED SPECIES DEATH MATCH:
just like Death Match, but with mixed species. Two teams, made up from all three species fight to get the most kills in the set time limit or to reach the target score before the other team.

SURVIVOR:
For the ultimate test of stamina, play Survivor Mode. Survivor allows for up to four players to enter an arena to fight waves of progressively stronger aliens. Each arena will be set up with two main areas. One will be a platform which is relatively easy to defend; the other will be an area where ambush by aliens is more likely. Supplies of health and ammo will re-spawn in this second area.

PREDATOR HUNT:
If youíre after a more stealthy multiplayer game go for Predator Hunt. In this mode one player is selected to become the Predator Hunter, the rest of the players take the role of the Marine prey. The Hunter must use the Predatorís stealth abilities and advanced equipment to pick off the prey and score points. The Marines will need to defend themselves from this threat and if possible, to kill the Hunter.

SPECIES DEATH MATCH:
Species Death Match pits a Marine team, Alien team and Predator team against each other in a race to get the most kills within the set time limit or to reach the target score before any of the other teams.

DOMINATION:
Take capture the flag to a whole new level with Domination. In Domination two teams fight for ownership of Control Points around the level. Owning a Control Point gives the team a small and steady, stream of points. The more Control Points owned, the more that team scores. A team will win when their score has reached 100 points.

I've read mixed impressions so far. Apparently the game is very dated technically some thinking it looked like an Xbox 1 title in HD. Gameplay is said to be very cut throat already too making the demo extremely difficult for n00bs to get into.

I'll wait until I've got my new PC to give this a spin, it's clearly a game meant to be played on that rather than a console.

Not too impressed. As Mike stated it does look like an Xbox game more than next gen. I've only played as an Alien thus far, and it can be very disorienting and difficult to control if you're not careful, but running around on the ground is a recipe to get slaughtered.

To be fair though, this kind of gameplay (fast kill or be killed, rinse, repeat) isn't my type of gameplay. Will have to see what the campaigns have to offer.

I started this DL last night, but it was taking forever. I may give it a shot this weekend... Not expecting much.

So can you play the survivor mode in the demo? Or is it only deathmatch?

crapvival mode is not available on the crapmo. Only team crapmatch.

Crap vs Crap didn't turn out to be a very good game. Rebellion are failures confirmed.

You are completely wrong here...

They did an amazing job at capturing the essence of the humans, aliens and predators. The sound from the human guns will bring back a lot of memories and the aliens are pretty awesome, you can go through ducts and hang from the ceilings and its all about surprise.. The Predators can go stealth and are creepy when they are chasing you in stealth mode or when they come from behind you can stab you with their claw, they also have that shoulder laser which can kick some ass.

I enjoy playing as the Humans as the setting was eerie and the low light and ambience is spot on. Its honestly a bit scary hearing your radar start to bleep but you cant see anything and darkness is all around you.. Its controls are ok, a bit rudimentary but still pretty solid and the map layout was nice, it really does a good job at catering to the different races and not giving any one race a huge advantage.

The control is broken to a point that all the window dressing in the world won't matter. Immersion = gone.

Modern Warfare 2 showed us that some games aren't balanced for lean.
Bad Company 2 showed us that some games aren't balanced for lean or prone.
Aliens vs Predator showed us that some games aren't balanced for lean, prone or crouch.

AHHH WE'RE GOING BACKWARDS>><?>

wow im surprised none of you like it. I love it! Playing as the predator is a blast! As long you get the controls down for the alien its a beast! If your good at FPS you will dominate as the marine. Everything is well balanced and its just a blast can't wait for the 16th to play the full game! Have it pre-ordered

I love both the Alien and Predator film franchises, didn't get that feeling at all from this demo. You didn't think it looked like crap? I know it's not a final version, but seemed to really lack in art design.

I dunno, Aliens still seemed to dominate in the few run-throughs I made, I did ok and I sucked controlling the Alien. Most if the times I got killed were by other Aliens.

The gameplay was solid and I wont fault a smaller budget game for lack of stunning visuals.. Its dark color palette does not lend itself to stunning visuals anyways, so dont expect to see things pop out like in Uncharted or other tropical setting games.. I know one thing, that when playing as the humans, they just nailed it, you are litterally jumpy and everytime your radar thing goes off you go into frantic mode...

The demo was very fun, the only knocks really are the generic character models and slightly sloppy controls, its still controlable and there are already some damn good people playing as all races...

You just havent played with a good group, I did and it was awesome, I have been a human 3x and only 1x each for the predator and aliens. I was first each time I was a human and came in second when playing the Predator and Alien, I need to get used to thier skills.. As a Human you just find a spot where no one can get behind you and try to avoid corridors with multiple entry points.. As soon as you can funnel the enemies you already have the advantage and even with the base assault rifle you can rack up the kills.

I love this demo. You guys, you gotta look at this game like New Super Mario Bros Wii- the gameplay is old and tired and nothing special and the graphics suck, but it's awesome because IT'S FUN. I mean, I will probably not be buying the game but I'll definitely be renting for sure. Like Mase's post that got quoted says (), they really nailed the feel of the movies- from the sound of the pulse rifle and the radar to the Predator's switching between normal and thermal vision. My only complaint is the audio samples they stole from the original soundtracks sound like ass. Turn up the volume and you'll hear the pulse rifle clipping as you fire it.

This matchmaking sucks. Someone play this with me. I heard it's easier to get into a match if you invite someone.

What system are you guys playing it on? I haven't been able to get into a game at all, it just stays on searching for games. On the PS3. Is it one of those games that takes half an hour to find a match? Really want to try it out.
