Default DualShock 3 issues

Ok quick question I have been gaming quite a bit on my PS3 (GOW Collection = [email protected]&$ing awesome) and I am getting pretty annoyed at my DS3. Every other time I use it, it wont sync with my PS3 not even when I attach it with its USB cord. It will recognize it with the USB cord, but as soon as I detach it, it goes right back blinking.. I've been having to turn off my PS3 and turn it back on while repeatedly pressing the PS button to get it to connect...

Has anyone else had this problem, or know how to fix this?

Now mind you, this controller is the one that came with the Slim that I got not too long ago..

Yea i use to get that problem.. havent gotten it in a good long time now though. that would happen to me usually if my controller would completely die in the middle of gaming cause i ignored to charge it, then when i would plug it into the PS3 to charge i could not press the home button on the PS3, it would not sync. then if i would unlpug it it would not sync either. i would do trail and error to fix it so i cant remember how i fixed it a few times it happen to me. it was very few though. in the past 3 years i would say it happened no more then 4 times.

Troubleshoot to see if it's the console or the controller.

Console -> update firmware

Controller -> buy a new one

Try using the reset button on the back on the controller, then re-pair it to your ps3 using a usb cable.

If you're still having trouble see if you can get your hands on another controller.

Or, see if the headset has trouble pairing.

I had a few issue's after the 3.0 firmware, and one of them was the controller. I did some searching and found this option below, and since then I haven't had any issue's. You can try it if nothing else helps...

-------------------- I don't remember where I got this from, I think PS3.com---------

1. remove all cd's,memory or anything you have connected to the ps3 on the usb's

2. turn on your ps3 from the back switch but leave it with the red light on(on the front).

3 now press the power button (where the red light is)and hold it, you will hear the initial single beep then you will hear a second single beep after that you will hear a double beep. when you hear hear the double beep release.

4. a menu with 6 option will appear. select option #3

5. when the ps3 comes back up. repeat step 1,2, & 3. but now select option 2

6 congrats you fix the error.
