Default It's come down to 2 TV's-- Samsung LN55B650 or LG 60PS60

A warranty problem has caused us to get a $1000 credit towards sears.com, and we are looking into getting 55' and up TV's. We have finally narrowed it down to either the Samsung LN55B650 or the LG 60PS60.

Here's the samsung:
http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...ame=Flat+Panel

and here's the LG:

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...0ps60&sLevel=0

We're just looking for GREAT picture quality and just a phenomenal TV. As much as I would love other suggestions, we simply can't take any as these are the only big hdtv's that sears offers.

the thing is, we've seen the SAMSUNG in the store and it was phenomenal; however, it's only 55 inches and is $2999. however, we haven't heard anything about the LG brand (or this tv specifically--there are no amazon.com reviews), but it's like $800 cheaper and is 5 inches bigger!

We are in such a dilemma; please help! While the LG seems like the better value, we are a little apprehensive about buying a TV that we haven't seen in person --especially since we just came out of a bad warranty situation.

Thanks!

You should really look at plasma TV's as they are less expensive and the current king of picture quality.

Now to answer your question, Samsung is leaps and bounds above LG. The reliability of LG has yet to be proven so I would recommend you avoid them.

Why not a 58" Samsung or Panasonic plasma?

As for Sears.com, I'd recommend the Samsung PN58B650 plasma. It's a very nice set, and in my opinion, strides ahead of the LG.

I have the 52" Samsung and the picture can't be beat, I also have a plasma and another LCD and the Samsung is brighter and just outstanding.

I would look at this Panasonic 54" plasma at Sears:

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...ame=Flat+Panel

Or this Samsung 58" plasma:

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...ame=Flat+Panel

I would avoid LG based on my personal experience and my friends with LG. He went through 3 LG plasmas and has the same Panasonic plasma I have now and he loves it.

I would go for the samsung. It has a little bit better picture quality because of its outstanding blacks, and Samsung it just a better brand in general.

Only 2 choices?
For me samsung

Only negatives , the internet connectivity is very gimmicky as the Yahoo widgets are limited. Yahoo News has a bunch of headlines, but no full stories. It is also painstakenly slow to navigate.
