Question Toshiba Regza.. worth buying?

http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/sub...&page=0&sort=3

im wondering what you guys think, a Sharp 42" 1080P (LC42D64U) or a Toshiba Regza 42" 1080P (42RV530) .. both are $1499 (the sharp being on sale) ... i cant find any reviews on these Toshiba "regza" series.. how are they? i like the price, 1500 for a 42" 1080p is sweet for canada..

Thumbs up

IMHO, I'd take the Regza anyday over the Sharp. In the end they are likely on par with one another, I'm just more of a believer in Toshiba's accountability, as a whole, than with Sharp. (my opinion) I also happened to think the Regza had a better image...but since you don't know me fron joe blow and most LCD's are fairly equal...that doesn't mean much, sorry.

Here's a link to a review on the Toshiba Regza...although it's a 47" it's pretty much the same display and I respect S&V in terms of their review reputation, though our opinions may vary, the review is usually kept to a technical aspect and not a pissing contest with a rival i.e Tosh vs. Sharp. You can do a search on the Aquos there as well, I know they've reviewed those display's in the past too.

In fact here is a link for the Aquos...

I have to agree with macmarcus, go with the Toshiba. The unit I have is spectacular and looks better, at least to me, than any other LCD set on the market.

The Toshiba 42" 42RV530 is actually $1200 everywhere, not $1500...all the more reason to go with that one. Great value on a great looking tv. And theres plenty of user reviews on BB, amazon and the other sites. And all of them are like 4/5's.

you guys rock.. thanks!.. i did read the reviews over at reviews.cnet.com about the sharp, they gave it a pretty good review but said that some units have a banding issue.. and i read overall from alot of other people that sharp has gone down in quality with some units.. thats sad.

The only thing I don't like about Regza's is the 8ms response time. If they had a response time under 5ms i'd snatch one up in a heart beat. I played some Call of Duty 4 on my buddies Regza and the picture is pretty amazing, but the motion blur is very noticable.

my current TV (Vizio VX37L 37") has 8ms response time too.. i dont mind it so i can live with it. of course it would be nice if it had something faster like 6 or 4ms like the competitors do (sammy, sharp, sony).. but 8ms is still do-able... is there a option in the menu to increase the responses time though? like what the Sharp Aquos have? .. i play COD4 on my PS3 (HDMI) all the time and i dont notice blur issues on my TV, and its a low end tv at that

so.. i made the jump and purchased this tv, i dont have it yet because my local canadian leons furniture store has them on backorder (its their first shipment getting these models in). so i put one on my leons account card. gotta wait 2-3wks now before it comes in as they say (damn thats a long time). i got it with no paymens, no interest till 2010.

im still trying to find more professional reviews on this TV and i cant. im also trying to find a helpful site that lists some calibration settings. anyone know of any? i got DVE anyway but still, this toshiba has adjustable RGB levels/adjustable color temp that you can tweak even further rather then using the preset color temps, and adjusting color temp manually takes more then a naked eye, it takes special equipment . reviews.cnet.com doesnt have any tips/tricks for this tv yet

CNET has a section where they have calibration settings for TV's. You can search there I know there is alot of different tvs on there. Good luck
