The last 4 days have been maddening!!!
First off----HI! I'm Kevin, new to the forum. This is long--but, please, I am desperate and would appreciate anyone that has ANY clue what the hell is going on here. I finally took the plunge (if $700 is a plunge, lol) and purchased an HDTV on Friday. My excitement quickly came to a halt when that afternoon the cable human came by to install the HDMI cord (I already had the DVR/HD box). Plugs it in, switches source to "HDMI" and "No Signal" appears. For the next two hours he tried many different things, brought up a different cable box, tried two other HDMI cords, etc. Finally we came to the conclusion the HDMI port itself on the tv had to be broken. So, yesterday afternoon I returned the tv for the same model and was delighted to be on my way to finally having HD! But, no. Hooked up the tv, plugged in the HDMI cord..."No Signal" again. So, I called Olevia and the were less than helpful "You can use component cables---you can hardly tell the difference". Yes, THAT was their tech support's solution to their tv not working properly. I then informed them I am using the component port for my Xbox 360 and I wanted to used the HDMI port to use the HD (which is the standard afterall, and is what their own manual lists as the "preferred connection method"). They guy had zero to add. BTW, the component cables work great to play the 360 in HD, and also have a fine HDTV signal when I tested them as well. So, my friend came over last night to brainstorm (bringing his own HDMI cable from his tv) and after two hours we quit. I did some googling and did see that there were some HDMI issues with this particular Motorola model on occasion. I then came to the conclusion that it HAD to be that my box was outdated and didn't jive with this particular tv model....somehow. So, my cable came back out today with a brand new box in the new style--hooked it up....and no signal. He then called one of his partners to come over (supposedly their best guy) and after a half hour he was completely stumped. They tried all the menu settings on the box and the tv, etc. I mean, it is ONE cord from your cable box to the back of your TV!!! So, now, I am at a COMPLETE loss. I mean, these tvs are pretty common and there are THOUSANDS of these exact boxes out there. To recap, I have tried 4 HDMI cables, 3 cable boxes, and two TVs. None of which worked. Does anyone have any ideas on this? ![]() |

Sorry I don't have an answer for you, but I have the same problem, except I've had this Olevia TV for over a year. Just within the last week my HDMI port stopped working. Both my computer and my HD DVD player will not work. I just gave up trying to figure it out tonight when I read this post.

Yeah, I just don't get it. Olevia 232T is a VERY common tv, and the Motorola DCT6412 box is a VERY common box. It seems like someone (cable company, Olevia, etc) would have some clue why when I plug my HDMI cord in I get no signal. There is obviously a solution, I just have no clue what it is. And I have spent HOURS upon HOURS trying to figure it out.

Not sure -
My TV has 3 HDMI ports and while they all seem to work, only one of them worked for the cable signal. If you have more than 1 port - try a different one (though I'm sure you already did that) |

Why pay for a cable box at all simply run the cable directly into the set and run a scan of digital channels and get your cable signal that way and eliminate the cost of the Box......? I also believe some cable companies do not output their signals through the HDMI port the cable guy should be aware if they do not but lots of times these guys are simply clueless..................try hooking up something else that outputs with HDMI like an HDDVD player and see that the port is working....

I should have mentioned that box is a DVR.
Anyhoo, problem solved. Exchanged the tv AGAIN and this time got a Sony Bravia. Works like a charm |
