Help!!!

hey everyone i have recently( 2 weeks ago ) purchased a sony xbr5 52 from pc richard..was working great..but when i turned it on today there seems to be a long line about 6 inches in the middle of the screen..it seems to be a green light with some pink/ reddish lines in it..when the tv is all black its more visable..when the tv is of u can still see the line but its not lit up with the green light..is this a dead pixel or a stuck pixel..and what should i do..?

Call Sony customer service and they will send a technician to your home to fix this. Pixels ar small dots/squares -- not lines. It could be several stuck pixels in a row- or a host of other things. If unplugging the set for awhile doest not reset and fix this-- call SONY!

If unplugging it does not work, take it back to where you purchased it and exchange it for a new one.

yeah i tried unplugging and it does not work..i called sony a tech will be here on wed...but am sooo nervous they are going to say thats its not there problem and it was caused by me from using it somehow..i just dont understand how this can happen it was working fine the whole 2 weeks..did i do something wrong...the line just got an inch or two longer...and there is a second line now smaller right on the bottom of the screen this when is green as well but there is three halfinch red lines right next to each..am scared

Your warranty should cover defects like you describe. I understand your concern but give them a chance to fix it if your retailer will not take it back. If they don't repair or replace, see a lawyer.

Once the tech touches the TV, you cannot return it.

well..i have the sony tech tell me the panel needs to be replaced and it might take a week or 2 just to get the panel itself ( sony warranty will take care of )..Someone from PC richard is coming on Saturday (march 15) to look at..should i just tell pc richard ( or will they) to give me a new one..(its only 2 weeks old)..i found in the avs forum someone who had the exact same problem....

Relax. Unless you connected your TV to something unusual (like, I don't know, the electric STOVE because you wanted to SEE the heat signal) don't worry! You did nothing wrong. Sony is very reputable and they will take care of this-- if your merchant has not already gotten you a new set by the time the tech rep gets there on Wednesday.

ok am starting to calm down..sony already said they seen this problem and they will replace the panel..am going to call pc richard ( the actual store) to see if they will just give me a new tv ( am obviously not goning to tell them want sony said)

.... this was me before literally

..how does this happen though?... sony did not explain just told me the panel was no good

I had the same issue with the 52xbr4, twice!

It's bad pixels, and the line will grow (and you could get more of them)
The store I bought the TV from (Ultimate Electronics) simply replaced the TV both times. You should not go for someone repairing the TV 2 weeks after you bought it, i would tell them you want a new TV or you are going to return it.

3rd one works great, I've had it about a month now.
The store didn't giove m eany problems, they offered to let me do whatever I wanted both times- get a new xbr, a different model, or a refund.
Makes me glad i didn't buy this TV online

Well pc richard will be coming on saturday and i am going to tell them that i want a new tv.....worst comes to worst sony will fix the panel but i am going to go hard on pc richard till they give me a new tv.
