Just converting an S-Video connection to a component connection will still leave you with the limitations of the Least Common Denoninator which would be the S-Video connection, so yes you would be limited to the limits of the S-Video spec of 480i still with that adapter.

If your display is on a table/stand you can just use a black cable and thread it along the underneath edge of the screen to mostly hide it. I own the same model display so it wouldn't look too bad from what I envision IF it is on a table/stand IMO.

The only alternative is to return the display and get the 50pz85u model which has the 3rd set of inputs on the side instead of the front. The price difference is usually not that much different at good retailers.

Thanks for all the help, really appreciate it.....I will probably just keep the HDMI-DVI since there is such a big difference between that and running S-Video. Other then this little hiccup I've ran into, its a great system.

Ok, I have the TH42PZ700U and the 7 blinking light of death. But it's out of warranty.

Taking it to a repair shop today once I figure out how to get it off the wall mount!

Just got an estimate to repair mine:

7 blinking lights = 2 boards to replace. Total cost including labor? $994!

That surely stinks. Sorry to hear about your problem. I assume you have no warranty remaining, but I would call Panasonic if it is close to the warranty end date and go up the ladder to try and get them to cover the cost or most of it at least.

These expensive displays should NOT be going this soon like this being only last year's model, so you may have some luck if persistent yet calm.

Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Oh, i have already put the call in. We are going to fax in our receipt. They have called the repair place to get the estimate, then they will see what they can do for us.

If it's not to my satisfaction, better believe that I'm going to raise cain! It's only 3 months out of warranty.

Glad to see you are proactive about this. Many just quietly bite the bullet it seems. Be sure to tell them that you frequent the HD forums so they know you might just have good or bad things to say about their products if they do not help you out. Just say it with subtly so they do not feel blackmailed at first.

Good luck & let us know how you make out.

there is no excuse to the failures of this kind, there is definitely a pattern here, panasonic is liable to fix it, if the argument is, it is only three percent then why not fix these three percent set free of cost, (Like MS fixed the Xbox 360 and extended the warranty). Consumers should not pay for design flaws. Adding extended warranty is not a solution.
What has been happening recently is (in electronics especially) companies are bringing these crappy design to the market (with out testing it properly) and selling extended warranties also to make extra profit, this give them get out of the jail card, consumers are paying to fix their sets. One year warranty for expensive plasma and LCD is not enough, for example the life of car is around 5-10 years and warranty is 3-4 years in most cases, on TV side the manufacturer claim the life 60 to 70 K hours but the other components fails way before its projected life, it is very misleading for consumers and give them false hope. Warranty should be at least three years, if one can not make product that last three years without defects don't bring it to market.

Old CRT lasts years, if one plans to own a TV for 5-8 years why he has to buy extended warranty, in most cases it is even hard to find replacement parts if tv breaks down.

There should be a solution to protect consumers especially in HDTV market as it will grow significantly in years to come.

I agree. I have a 32" Toshiba CRT that's 10+ years old and it works great. My panasonic plasma? 15 months and it needs more cost in repair than it's worth now!

I won't rest until Panasonic pays for it all. Trust me, I'll mention that I frequent the internet and forums. If they don't fix, I'll be spreading the word!

Default Panasonic 32' LCD Flat Panel????

I have a Panasonic 32' LCD Flat Panel TC-32LX70. I get the power light blinking when I hit power button on remote. I can unplug the power from the wall and it corrects the issue (for now). Does this same like same issue other posters are having? I have read Panasonic states this is a known issue and problem with the HDMI ports. The only problem with that is I do not have anything plugged into the HDMI ports and never have. I only have the coax cable plugged into the back of the TV. I purchased the TV on 9/8/07 from Circuit City. I am checking to see if the CC I purchased the TV on offers any type of extended warranty. Am I screwed here?

I heard a lot of stories about timely repairs and quick resolution and even a number of 'out of warranty' fixes when I was researching Panasonic. In fact I had a hard time finding any bad customer service reports.

The way I figure it, any TV you buy might be a lemon. It's up to the manufacturer to set things right.

The only story in this thread that bothers me is the resolution of the 'rear inputs' issue, but even there if I'm not mistaken it seems as if it's a compatibility issue between video cards and the TV.
If that's the case I'm inclined to blame the video card more than the TV.
But maybe I'm misunderstanding something there.

I contacted Panasonic today and they do not want to touch this TB because it is out of warranty...There is not firmware fix for this issue.

Just created a consumer blog to consolidate complaints about the faulty Panasonic plasma television sets. If you could take a few minutes to add your experiences (date purchased, location, problem) to the comments thread, I would be very grateful!

Not yet allowed to post URLs to this, but the address is panasonic plasma fail blogspot dot com without any spaces. With luck, the moderator will take pity on me and post the URL properly thank you.

You could also just Google "Panasonic Plasma Fail" and that should bring you to the consumer complaint blog. Thanks!
