Default Setup question from an HDTV newbie

Just bought my first HDTV for my bedroom, a Samsung LNT3253H. Got it at BB for $789, which I think was a good deal.

My question - we have an armour where we keep our TV, cable box, etc. It is not open; it has an enclosed back. I noticed tonite that that area seemed much warmer than it had been with our old tv. Do I need to be concerned that there is not ventilation in there? Could that affect the tv's performance? There is about 1 1/2 inches on each side of the tv, and a good 20-25 inches of depth behind it. I just worry that the heated air that is trapped in the armour will damage the tv.

Any thoughts or advice? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I really am a novice.

It's a good question and valid concern. The 20-25 inches of clearance in the back is good, but I wonder if the 1-1/2 inches of clearance on the sides is enough. If it only stays warm...you might be okay but it's hard to say. It is possible to damage the TV if it's constantly over heating from lack of ventilation.

Any chance you can eliminate/move the furniture and leave the TV out in the open just to be safe?

Ha, can you talk to my wife about it? LOL She loves this armour! I'm going to see what it's like over the next day or two and go from there.

On a totally separate note, she was very apprehensive about spending bucks on a tv, so I'm nervous because of all that I've been reading about the lack of picture quality through the SA box and TWC. Going tomorrow to exchange my digital box for the SA HDTV DVR. Here's hoping it all goes smoothly so she doesn't stress...
