Talking Sylvania 42" LCD HD 1080P by FUNAI

Finnally this set is now available almost a year since I heard about which was never released yet! Now and it's being sold at Sears and my local store has it! I will go and check it out tonight! I don't know if the Emerson 42" LCD HD 1080P will follow at Wal-Mart.

I want to check out the new: Clear Pix Engine PLUS

This info comes directly from FUNAI Japan: mounted on the cutting-edge of high quality dedicated KURIAPIKUSUENJIN chips, and analog high-definition television, video and DVD video signal to deteriorate without the high-definition digital processing. This is a high quality video signal FUNAI panel optimized by the reality of a good image to achieve. Highest quality Picture, to better than the rest out there... But I'll go and see how the new PLUS compares.. I need a new set for the living room...

Still SEARS price would come down a bit maybe doing BLACK FRIDAY?

Talking Review and First Look Prior Days ago..

Well they didn't have the 42" on display but it was in the backroom still boxed up. But they had two new 37" LCD with 1080 and it looks like they're going to be on sale this BF day. What I could see the Clear Pixel Plus Engine is more superior than Clear Pixel Engine of last year. What a huge difference! The detail is sharp, clear vivid colors. These panels are suppose to be the ones that FUNAI is going to replace if you have a problem with them for free. But what I could see they're as good as the Samung and SONY, actually they're better then those two gaints.

Pricing is $100 more than what I had paid for EWL3706 $899 last year for these 37" The DVD Player one has bright blue light up front. $200 more for that one though. $400 more for the 42" 1080P.

The Limited Edition LC370SS8 37" WXGA LCD-TV 2-HDMI

SYLVANIA LD370SS8 37-inch WXGA DVD Combo 2-HDMI

SYLVANIA Clear Pix Engine Plus ensures a great picture for your movies and television programs.
PLAYABLE DISC:
Its built-in DVD player plays a variety of media: prerecorded DVD-Video movies, DVD-recordable or DVD-rewritable discs, audio CDs, CD-R/RW discs,MP3 audio discs, JPEG, and picture CDs.

This one had DVD player built-in

Question Reported Prices for BF Day

SEARS $899
BJ Club - $799

Prices for BF this friday... I would like to get it at BJ but the nearest club is good drive away.. I would have to camp out in the cold night to get it unless they rules have changed for 12 midnight sale.

I am glad to hear you are so excited about this TV series. I heard about it sometime ago as well but for me the proof is in the pudding. Until I am able to thoroughly check one out myself, read some professional reviews and see what and if there are any service problems I will reserve judgment as most educated consumers will.

It took letters to FUNAI just to find out what's the deal with this set. I have one of their sets already and have no problems with it. There isn't no reviews yet as this has finally hit the stores this month. The Emerson EWL3706 was word of mouth last year. I know their sets are big over in Japan. The company has been around since 1960s. Unlike the others who are newer to the game.

I waited for this set yeah I could have got VIZO but I wasn't impress with how the set look and different angles. I had look at everything that was out there. I am Panasonic guy but since they only had 32" LCD that wasn't big enough.

Anyway you have your choice and I have mine. Who wins? No one does! It's a matter of taste and how you judge the company quality are you happy with your prior set? Did you have trouble with it? If you had trouble with it did it get fix under the protection plan? You know as well as I do if you had problems you wouldn't buy the same brand again and move on to another brand. I've been burnt by JVC and SAMSUNG never again will I go with their crap products again... Toshiba was another favorite but I had too many problems with their sets then I had decided with Panasonic / Quasar never had a problem. Also have Trutech HDTV kitchen works like a charm but I won't buy another one though, their replacement remotes are expensive!!!

I will have to get extra protection though and would recommend others to do the same with any sets you get.. For the service guy to come to your place is $100 bucks..

I don't work for SEARS but I can get people to tell me things since I use to be in the same type of business prior. But would SEARS match BJ Club price of $799 though.. Since you work for SEARS you would know that answer as I am not at the store now to ask?

unfortunantely that is a bit of a grey area. As a manager in my old store I would match costco/ sams club/ and Bj's as long as you could produce a membership card and an ad. some managers however may not and it is ultimately their call. if its 799 @ BJ's for a doorbuster sale on blackfriday then they will NOT match the price. My Manager already said he will match any all day prices that day, no door busters. Once again thats the local store's call. So if they refuse, be prepared.

Thanks for asking...

They told me on Thursday I would have to buy it at the regular price then comes BF they would give it to me at BF price. But I'll run it past them again on Monday. As I was not going to buy it prior as they thought it would be all sold out.. Maybe or maybe not..

Can you measure the box if you get a chance and tell me how big it would be? Might need to get a VAN or pickup truck to get that home. This is what I should have got a trailer hook up.. I could just drive in and pick-up what I need in one step. Now I got to pay someone to use their gas hog VAN at $50 to fill up their tank just to get the set..

Are the stands connected to the set this year like last?
