Default Set Xbox360 to 1080i or 720p??

Hi there, new to this forum,

I just bought me this Samsung 40" Lcd HD TV and have just one question.

http://www.samsung.com/au/products/t...Specifications

I have asked 5!! people and they say to set the Xbox360 to 1080i cause it can handle it.
But this one guy said to set it to 720p because the TV although it can take the Xbox360 in as 1080i, however it will convert it to its 'native resolution' output which is 720p he said.
Letting the TV do the converting from 1080i to 720p may damage the TV is said.

So can someone please help me clarify this, do I set me Xbox360 to 1080i or 720p?? thanks so much

i personally set my xbox 360 to 720p, because that's the highest resolution it can display accurately anyway, and it displays a great picture, now PS3 on the other had is going to be able to display 1080p and play bluray discs, and thats gonna kick ass.......

The last 360 update enabled 1080p support over Component and VGA.

Uhh... no. The link you provided goes nowhere, BTW. Try both output settings and see which one looks best to you. I have mine set to output 1080i on a 1366x768p native set and it looks fantastic.

Couldn't have said it better myself. However the latest update for the Xbox 360 enable all games to "upconvert" to 1080p. Really noticeable on PGR 3, and COD. Looking forward to Gears of War's resolution via the update.

So using my component cables for my 360 and if I have the samsung 3251 (720 native), using the latest 360s updater, I can set the output to 1080i and it will look better than 720p?

Blazer, the best advice I can give you, and I think all of us would agree is...TRUST YOUR EYES ONLY!!!!! whether it be 1080i/p or 720p.

The Samsung 3251's native resolution is 768. I imagine the original posters tv is also 1366 x 768, but the link doesn't work.

So if you set your Xbox to 720, it will have to "make up" the difference in resolution, to display native.
