internet start and stop problem

i have a new 2018 LG 49LK5700pua. I have one online website that starts and stops constantly. Using wifi. Im signed up for 100mbps but actual speed is @72mbps in Network and sharing on the PC. Everything else is fine. Plays smooth. I need to keep using the remote /or the keyboard space bar to the USB to continue the play. It has a pattern that it repeats. My last TV was ok. Just a problem with this TV on one website. One suggestion is the codec in the TV.
1. is there a codec in the new TVs?
2. Any suggestions on why a new TV starts and stops with constant play problems on one website?

Don't have an idea about the TV. Have you tried the website on a PC?

yeah, i did. My PC through the HDMI is a little better but still gets interuptions. Might need to use the PC for this one website.
1. would it be against the rules to post the website so you can try it?
2. I thought the codec was at the signal source. I did a search for the specs on this TV. Could not find anything about the DAC or a codec. Is there a codec in most of the new flat panel LCD TVs?

Verify that you have the latest firmware update.

As long as it is not a porn website, it's ok.

On the speed test you did, was that through the TV or the PC?

If through the PC can you run one through the TV?

Are the TV and the PC both connected via WIFI to the internet?

If the PC is getting the same interruptions, but fewer, it may be some sort of interference on the WIFI signal, are you in a location with many others on WIFI?

Most WIFI routers (or modems) use the same WIFI channel, if you can, go to the router/modem and select a different WIFI channel, you can download a WIFI scanning tool for the PC that will tell you who else is around and what channel they are on.

Acrylic WIFI, Network Stumbler and Netspot, are a few, I use them all.

Also see what connection speeds your WIFI interface on the TV can handle, most can run at 56 MBPS, some can go as high as 300 MBPS.

Also can you run a speed test with the PC connected via a CAT 5/6 cable directly to the router/modem? (if it isn't already) And can you do the same with the TV?

I just saw the link to the spec's on your TV that InYourEyes2 posted, it looks like your WIFI interface can also run on the 5 GHz band, does your router/modem run 5 GHz or can use that band? If so then try running the TV on that band as the 2.5 band is quite full of other junk.

ok, thanks everybody. ill review your suggestions. if i still have some trouble ill get back to you.
here is the website
revntv.com
click on watch live
it's for the gear heads with car tech stuff, classic cars, shows, power boats, products and more stuff.

sorry i didnt mention i left the wifi - ethernet router settings on default. the only thing i did change is the channel. i changed it from auto to ch3 which is a channel not used here. everything else has been fine. to log on to your router go to routerlogin.net. you can go into the menu and go to administration and reset back to original default settings. that seem to work best.

chucklp 06-15-2019 04:25 PM

here is my router setup. both 2.4 and 5g are enabled and have always been enabled. i left everything on default from the factory. the only thing i changed was the channel from auto ch6 to ch3. its been awhile so i did another reset to original factory settings.
i dont know but maybe it's the signal source is getting some kind of interruption. at the lower left corner there is a play, mute and live button. sometimes i lose the signal. when it works the live is red. when no signal the live goes gray and locks up. the signal is all crazy. ill give them another call. give it a try and let me know how it works for you.

Did you download one of the WIFI channel scanners and run a test to see whats out there?

And when you did a factory reset you wiped out your security settings, I would (if you live in a city) set them up again to something other then factory default.

Terryl3 06-16-2019 09:35 AM

And I just tried that channel, worked flawlessly for me, and I have a very slow internet connection out here in the boonies.

It works ok through my laptop PC wifi ok but not the TV wifi so good.
did you play it through the the TV web browser or the PC wired ethernet or wifi?

on the router reset security thing. i always left it on default. never had a problem. just that one website. thanks for taking a look at it from your side.

PC and TV, tried it on WIFI also, works fine here.

What type/brand of WIFI router do you have? And is there a way on the TV to check the WIFI signal strength?

The thing with the router WIFI security is to keep your neighbors from piggybacking on your WIFI, if you live in an apartment or housing tract then this is a common problem.

Some ISP's will throttle your internet speeds back when you get to the top of your bandwidth allotment, you may not use all of it but the guy next door may.

.

You bet!
My son had this issue years ago. Lived in an apartment in a business district.

Checked his DHCP leases in the router and found a crap load of users.

Don't broadcast SSID and use any security (encryption/passwords) available at your disposal.

its a good router---Netgear N600 wifi cable modem router.
no way to check the signal on the TV wifi. Been using the PC for signal strength. Its usually good to xllnt.

on the piggyback i have a password. The password is not displayed. Its hidden. The signal gets weak when outside the house. So i dont know if the signal is good enough for a neighbor. There are other signals around me in my laptop PC Network and Sharing task bar for internet access but are very weak with 1 or 2 bars out of 5. That is not a usable signal. Too weak.
I logged onto routerlogin.net, clicked on advanced, went into security and checked my DHCP logs. I didnt find any ip addresses in the log that don't belong to me. Is there another way to check my wireless router logs for piggybacking? Did i miss something?
