Default To fix my Panasonic or buy a used Samsung

That is the question.

I have a 55st30 that popped the other day, preliminary estimate is around $200-250 to fix what they suspect is a SC board issue. (It would cost $120 to get it actually diagnosed in person)

There's someone on craigslist selling a 65" Samsung plasma, he claims to have paid $3,000 for it 3 years ago so my guess is it might be a 8500 model?
He's selling it for $300.

The tv isn't exactly local, a good 45 minutes from me in my gas guzzler pickup so I don't want to take a trip just to view it unless I have true intent to purchase. He claims he moved to northern California and it was too big for him to take so it's at his old place and he can have his property manager show me the tv but doesn't have the model number.

What would you do?

I'd buy a new one, why pick up someone else's problems, who knows what could go wrong with it.

Better places to look for used TV's are pawn shops, you can take a look at them before buying.

Default Repairing my 50 Panasonic Plasma (7 blinking Red lights)

I got the 7 blinking red lights on my TC-P50GT30. I've already replaced it with a 55" 4K Samsung SUHDTV.

Now my question is whether to have Sears Home services fix the Panny (I'm assuming a $400 quote) or to just throw the old unit away. Has anyone had any luck with Sears and/or replacing the SU board in the Panasonic?
Thanks
