As a programmer and a gamer, I have my share of expensive monitors (just ask my wife!). And the regular LCD TV never satisfy my quality standard; colors are either too cartonish, black is not black, and white is tinted blue. So I have only used plasma as TV. It's warm, have rich real color, it's perfect for movie night, there is no argument there.

I think this post I did pretty much sums up the issue. Do I wish that the blacks didn't lighten at all on them? Hell yeah! But they start out so much lower that it is a non-issue except that people didn't know that the blacks get lighter, so they feel slighted.

This is supposed to be less of an issue with the 2010 models and only time will tell if this is true with them being fairly new, but the new Panasonic 2010 models have a better THX mode compared to the 2009 models as well with damn near spot on color accuracy & Gamma out of the box when using this mode, AND the 2010 models' THX can get brighter than anyone should need in any room other than a true sun room, while the 2009 models didn't get as bright and with sunlight coming into the room many had to use CUSTOM mode which is not as accurate. Thankfully for the 2010 models they solved that issue as well.
