Default Sanyo vs Sony

I am looking to purchase a second HDTV. My first was 40” Sony Bravia. This one will go into my bedroom (I will be viewing from about 6 or 7 feet). This set would mainly be for watching cable television and playing my XBOX 360. I am looking to pay under $500, and both seem like great deals. Any advice? Thanks!

Sanyo 37" LCD 1080p 60Hz HDTV, DP37819 $488

Sony 32” LCD Bravia 1080p 60Hz KDL32EX400 $494

Sanyo doesn't even come close to comparing with Sony when it comes to quality and longevity.

L2W, isn't Sanyo owned or mfg by Panny? I read that somewhere but don't remember off-hand.

Yes Panasonic bought out Sanyo 1-2 years ago I believe but not sure about the date it happened. Sanyo actually gets good reliability ratings, but it is a budget brand and PQ wise cannot compete with Sony LCDs IMO.

Ok, I get PQ differences, just hoped the reliability would be closer to Panny now.

Yes but Sanyo TV fab is the same poor quality it used to be. Panasonic bought Sanyo for their battery technology. At some point in the future the TV's will hopefully become better seeing that Panasonic is now the parent company but who knows when that will be.
