Default getting Panasonic 42" plasma today

Any thoughts on the extended warranty? Don't usually buy them and never had a prob, but also never had a flat tv b4.

odds of having a failure in the first 4 years is about 10%, do you feel lucky? If you buy a warranty on the net from Mack Camera or CPS you can get coverage for a very low price.

Whatever that percentage may be, add me to it.

My Panasonic plasma failed in the first 7 months of ownership and I was incredibly careful with it.

Sorry to hear that. How did Panny CS take care of you?

Well, Panasonic has done nothing and will do nothing, but that is a different story for another time.

I broke the TV in, and have been very, very careful with it, as I have always been afraid of burn in, but I figured since everybody says its a thing of the past I would try a plasma.

Over time the "normal" image retention got progressively worse. It would retain seemingly any static image displayed for any significant amount of time. As the IR became more frequent it also became more persistent. I couldn't get rid of stuff as easily. Then I came home the other night and found one of my kids video game images absolutely, 100%, no doubt about it, burnt into the screen.

I've been trying to get rid of it for the last 2 days and it isn't getting any better.

well you can add me in that 0.5%. My panel failed just after 6 months.
Now Panasonic its debating between replacing the panel or giving me my money back. Which its funny because the total cost of replacing the panel its close to $900 in new panel and labor and yet my plasma only cost $700, go figure.
I just wish they re inverse me the money so i can buy me a 50g20.

Definitely, and I can't complain. I'm just in love with the G20/25 and I really want one. That's why I would love for them to re inverse me instead of replacing the panel on mine. Either way I would be satisfied, but i really want a G20/25.
