I do!
anybody got any pix?
I'm really curious as to how people have their components set up and whatnot..right now I have my blu ray, cable box and xbox on an out door end table just on the floor next to where the TV's mounted above the fireplace...LOL..not fancy, but it'll do for the time being while we figure out what we're going to to furniture wise in the room..

let's see some similar set ups!

I didn't do that but you could just get a stereo rack to put the components in next to the fireplace.

that was definetly one idea we had..pretty much in place of my makeshift/ molded plastic stand is now....lol...

would by far be the easiest solution..could get some of that conduit to cover up the cords

I did it... for one weekend.

Loved the location, was fairly comfortable viewing... played Xbox360 for a few hours and my neck hurt for three days.

It now has been moved to the wall.

Be careful of putting any TV.. especially a flat panel above a working fireplace. My father in law did this and the heat goes up to the TV and heats the electronics up. He went through two plasmas before he figured it out. I put a thermometer where the TV was one time and it went up 120 degs.

I've never had a TV mounted over a fireplace but it just seems to high to me.

I think the experts say put the TV at eye level from the furniture you'll be sitting on.

That is what we all say. Unless you have a very low fireplace mantle I think it is too high for everyday viewing as a main display. I thought about putting one in the family room for mostly viewing it from the open kitchen, but couldn't justify it. It is also not a low mantle on mine. Add the heat and smoke which is not good for electronics and it should be avoided IMO if at all possible.

not much I could do about it because of the room guys =) it was the best solution I could come up with for being able to view it from teh most places, getting the most seating available in the room and getting it off the floor to keep it away from my three year old's grubby little paws..hehe

no smoke by the way...gas

in any event, it can be done and it's not uncommon
