Default Are there any flatscreens...

with a picture the equal of my Sony kd-30xs955 tube tv? I've been pulling my hair out trying to find a flat screen (lcd or plasma) that has the picture quality that my old Sony does and nothing seems to match it. I've looked at the Panasonic G10, Samsung 750 lcd, etc and although they are very good they don't match the old CRT. If I end up buying either will I be disappointed? Believe me, I'd keep the old Sony but 30" just isn't cutting it in my living room. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Get the G10. Once in your home, in your ambient lighting conditions you will be amazed by the picture. Make sure to put the TV in THX mode and prepare to be awed...

I agree. Plasma is closest to CRT for black levels and happens to have better PQ IMO because it has individual pixels instead of lines of resolution that I can see from the proper viewing distance for the screen size. It bugs me now looking at CRT because of this.

If you want the closest thing to your CRT you will have to get a plasma.

Don't expect Plasma to look really good a very close distances, once your at the optimum distance you will be amazed! Where have you been viewing these G10's? Often places like Best Buy are to brightly lit, poorly catlibrated and there signal loops at 720p and not 1080p. I own a Samsung LN52B750 and love it when there's good quality HD channels like CBS and HDNet to name a few, on some HD content I can get really close to the screen and not see any pixels, just a smooth quality picture!

A 50" inch or larger flat panel is capable of over 2,000,000 million pixels, your 30" tube TV doesn't even come close to that much picture infomation.
