Cool Southwest florida... DTV vs Dish

Ok I know the whole DTV Vs Dish has been hashed out many times. But here in SW Florida we have daily rains that can be torrential. I am looking to add HD to my service and also use it in a camper. 2 boxes in house 2 in the camper. What I need to know is which is better for keeping signal and also not giving me greif about 2x recivers not hooked to a phone... Just let me call in for PPV if I want them. Any help would be wonderfull.
Thanks!

That is a loaded question as you will get both positives and negatives from both sides. The only thing I can offer is the following - I have had Dish Network and Direct TV for over 6 years now and Dish has given me better service with no drop outs. The same can not be said of Direct TV. I also believe the picture quality to be better with Dish.

This is a very subjective question and you will get 10 different answers from 10 different people. Let me tell you something from frequenting other sites. Every single site I frequent and every single person who currently has both or just recently switched says Direct's PQ is better than Dish by a slight margin on most channels, almost the same on others, and far better on a few. This is due to the fact that Dish has greatly compressed their picture of late and have maxed out their transponders in order to get as much HD as possible. I know others are going to claim otherwise, but this is a true assessment and I ask you to check for your self on this site, DBS talk, satellite guys, ex. You will see that I am correct. You will also see that it is true that Dish has been over compressing and cramming.

As far as rain fade, you too will get 2 different answers. The fact is it depends more on location, obstructions, and proper alignment more than the provider itself.

Dish just sent up a new satelite for HD signals on Tuesday, so the compressed HD PQ should soon be gone.

Yes, the PQ should return to what it was within a month or two.
