What are you guys talking about? With the exception of GUY TV I have had all of the "new channels" since I signed up for the Platinum package. GUY TV is the KUNG FU channel, unless there has been a name change.

Upgraded my Dish service yesterday with the latest DVR receiver. The guy replaced my dish (no larger than the original). The HD channels look great via component. The tech guy said not to use HDMI.

Other than the cost of upgrading as a current subscriber, the only downside is that it will cost me $5 USD a month to maintain my privacy and keep the unit disconnected from the phone line. Bastards.

The VOOM channels remind me of what good cable used to be before ESPN became the channel where they only talk about sports and TLC became the body mod tattoo and silicone implant botox circus channel. A&E and Bravo? Gone baby....now they show "Dog, the one-man walking art show Bounty Hunter" and other assorted BS. Outdoor Life? Gone...No FIS World Cup Skiing, but damn, if you want to see a bunch a low-lifes with huge stainless hooks catch a big shark for no apparent reason you can watch VS.

Sorry about the Monday morning rant...Did you know Cheryl Crow has a big mole on her face? Maybe HD isn't so good...

That's what I thought when ESPN2 came along in HD...but, I found out that it used a different MPEG compression than ESPN, TNT, etc. and that I would have to pony up for a new receiver.

Look again Steve. Although there are fewer than we all would like, its still more than any other provider by quite a few.

Well, if you're serious, probably the best place to start would be checking the shows that air that kind of program and find out what the production companies are. Then contact those production companies. There are places on line (for example, the Hollywood Reporter website) that provide contact information for the production companies.

Apologies, I know the reply was off topic, I'd hit send before I remembered that I should have sent a private message.

Well, nothing has been updated since the original 10 Voom were added to DN!! Geez, we've got MPEG4 recievers now and another dozen HD chennels.

Confused
I am new to this forum and HD. I talked to an Account Specialist at Dish network today and she informed me there are 30 HD channels including VOOM, which she says they no longer call voom.
So I am confused about how many channels are current subscribers receiving? Is the account specialist correct in her statement about voom. Yes it would be nice if someone would post the current DN HD channels and including which ones are voom.
Thank You

Well, Voom still calls itself Voom.

Between shows the say "Here's what's showing on another Voom HD Network".

So, it sounds like the person you talked to was at best uninformed.
