lifetime and planet green is about it... most look like HBO and STARZ which you have to pay extra for. I just want MTV and VH1... I know they dont have much HD content but at least I will be able to get them with my HD only channels.

Actually the main point of the article was more about their new HD only package offers and the pricing. Included was the list of the 17 new HD channels (most of which are premium channels).

If I read and understood the retailer chat on the Satellite Guys website correctly yesterday, Dish subs who go with one of the new HD-only packages will now have the option of also getting their local RSN(s). That has been a sticking point that probably has kept a lot of us (including me) from switching to the lower-priced HD-only package. Of course, it will cost more (how much seems to be unsure at this point), so the money savings will be less. But if this is true, I for one will be switching to the upper tier HD-only pack for sure. I can live without seeing O'Reilly and Hannity, and even without seeing the Comedy Central "reports," but I couldn't live without seeing my Angels, Trojans, and Lakers on Fox Sports West.

I have a question since you are from the same area and are a Dish sub...

Dish's HD RSNs are game only, correct? So both FSN West and Primeticket are only live during a game? (BTW, both HD RSNs are full time in Direct, just in case you are wondering). My main question is, are both of these HD RSNs broadcasting on the same channel (like on FiOS or do they broadcast on different stations all together (like on Direct)?

Yes, both FSN West HD and PrimeTicket HD are game-only on Dish (aside from the occasional women's beach volleyball event where HD would have been nice, I never watch the RSNs for anything but games).

I don't know anything about Verizon FiOS and how the two RSNs apparently "share" a channel in our area, but the HD RSNs are on two separate channels on Dish. Having said that, however, occasionally the FSN broadcasts of Angels games are not in HD for some reason (at least one or two of the recent Angels-Rangers games were not shown in HD, for example, even though they were shown on the FSN instead of HD-less Channel 13). I never really thought about it or looked into whether both the Angels and Dodgers (the latter of whom I never watch -- sorry) are even shown in HD at the same time on their respective RSNs. Were the Dodgers on PrimeTicket last night (Thursday)? I know the Angels game yesterday WAS in HD, and it was aired from 5:00 to around 9:30 p.m. I guess what I'm wondering is if perhaps they "share" satellite space or something like that (pardon my lack of technical lingo).

My downstairs neighbor is an avid Dodgers fan, and I always tell him how lucky he is that his team's broadcast-channel games are shown on Channel 9 (which does HD), whereas my Angels' broadcast-channel games are shown on Channel 13 (which does not). But as much I love watching sports in HD, that's hardly enough for me to switch allegiances.

I do find it odd that KCOP which does show the occasional HD program (like some award show I seen a few months back) will not show a single Angels game in HD.

There was an article I read that stated all FSN baseball games in all markets will be in HD (whether they are shown in HD depends on the provider and location). And I also remember reading that KCOP will be doing much more HD broadcast next year including sports broadcast (nothing official on the number of Angel games). So it does look like your Angels will have much more HD broadcast next year.
