Default Why did MNF look like crap

on my Westinghouse 32" HDTV.

On the crt in the living room with the normal analog channel receiver looked clear, not great, but very very clear.

I just had the 811 installed this weekend, and with the exception of those 9400 channels, most look like a major let down.

And I know Conan will be on later tonight and I'll have the same picture.

I read something about using an outside antenna in conjunction with the satelittle, does this go into the 8VSB input?

I did the scan of all Digital and Analog channels under Menu 6-1-5, but i'm not sure what that did.

Can anyone help me get the best out of this setup?

Off topic, if anyone has this tv, can you tell me what code you used out of the manual? I can't seem to get the remote to read the tv.

Also, i'm not sure what i did, but now when I push guide, I don't get the small preview box that's playing whatevers on whatever channel i left it on, it's just the channel menu.

Need more info.

Were you watching MNF on the local feeds from Dish?

If so how did you have your receiver setup?

Do you have an OTA antenna connected to your 811?

Sounds like you were watching the SD local feeds off from dish. It also sounds like you are just letting the TV or the 811 strech the picture to fit the screen. Answere the questions above and we can help more.

You also need to hit the info button not the guide to get what you are looking for.

Try scanning for the code. Press and hold the TV button at the top untill they all light up then press the power button. Then press the up button slow untill the tv turns off. Then press #.

I think I got the channels to look better now, I added them digitally after hooking up an OTA antenna from outside to the back of the receiver. That problem seems solved now.

I'm still not figuring out how to display a preview picture of what channel i'm on. When I hit guide all it shows is the channels, no live playing picture.

There's an input on the back of the 811 that says "8VSB TV Antenna/Cable in". That would be where the antenna goes plugged in.

Without an antenna plugged into the 811, Menu 6-1-5 won't really do anything because no over-the-air channels are being pulled in for the receiver to lock onto.

Try Menu-6-7 and check off "partial guide with video". That should fix the problem.

"Why did MNF look like crap"

I watched it (for a very short time) in glorious HD through my OTA antenna. Still looked crappy -- it was just a crappy game!
