Default Can the Hopper 3 antenna adapter go bad?

It has occured to me that my OTA recording problem could be a bad adapter. Whenever I change something I get a temporary fix, like rescanning, or reattaching the antenna cable. If the adapter is bad that is good since I have the dual one in the mail. The question is, is there anything in the adapter that could actually go bad? Has anyone ever had a bad one?

Anything with electronic components in it can go bad, how old is the adapter?

It may be under warranty.

It is really old, I believe I've had it even on the Hopper, before Hopper 3.
