What's up with continuous complete signal loss
 
Today I kept getting complete signal loss over and over for hours. The weather is perfect, not a cloud anywhere. I know the problem is on DISH's end, especially since I tried to call in and cancel DISH altogether, but could not get through.

This is the second time this has happened in a month. It is totally unacceptable. While I can work around when I know the weather is bad in my area, I certainly can't plan for this.

Is DISH's equipment just too old and they don't want to spend money to upgrade? Is it time to move on to possibly more reliable equipment, like fiber optics?

Who else had this problem today, please raise your hand.

Had it today . Lost it about 3 times for a short period.

I just saw that there were severe storms in Phoenix. Even though I'm in Northern Kentucky, if the signal originates in Phoenix, that could have been the problem. You'd think that by now they could figure out a way that the weather would not interrupt service.

Yes! Please! Everyone put in if they had a signal loss, where they are located, and what weather conditions to the south-east and south-west and type of receiver!

Finishing up my route late and stocking my van, I had a tech last night have a customer call him saying they had a complete signal loss. He had the customer do a send status and read off signal strengths. The signal was amazing. It was happening on Two 211z's.

ViP/non-ViP Send status screen: Menu, 6, 3, Send Status
Hopper Send status screen: Menu, Settings, Network Setup, Tests

Once there, run connection tests to run the 'check signal'.

These signal strengths will be different depending on your location/state, what transponders and arc you are on, and if there is an issue (known or not) with a transponder or a STB not receiving/sending correctly.

I'm in southeast Missouri . Have no idea what the weather was like in other areas though. Each outage was brief and I just figured there was a glitch in the system

Gilbert AZ uplink had very heavy thunderstorms several days ago.

That caused the problem.
