Default I have been a loyal customer for 4 years but looks like time to move on

Seems like my dish bill has had significant creep since I started using them as my provider. I have been looking at all available providers from direct to ATT to Verizon to Xfinity and all of them offer new customer specials which saves quite a bit over the first 12 months.

After extensive research, looks like ATT U-Verse will save me nearly $800 the first year with only a one year commitment vs similar package I have with Dish. If I move my Internet from Comcast, I will save another $450 the first year with only a one year commitment.
I have for 4 TVs and a DVR:
I will go from $235/month for TV and Internet (dish and comcast) to $142/month going to ATT for both TV and Internet and ATT is throwing in $200 in prepaid visa cards on top of it. This is too much real money to not consider especially when Dish just won't make accommodations for their existing customers which I have already tried here online with their reps....

I'm still waiting on verification on internet speeds at my address but once I have that, I gotta say, no more lost shows when it rains.

If we have to be nomads to receive the best pricing, so be it.....this is alot of money savings and Dishnetworks can't come close to match it in any way, shape or form.

That's been the rule for many years. Teaser rates to sign and then, the boost later. The only way around it would be for EVERY provider to do away with "teasers" and reduce everyone's bill to somewhere between teaser and the charges after the teaser deal is up.

Mine just went for around $150 to $210. To get it to $210, I had to return one Joey and slide down to America's 200 from America's 250. I don't think I ever watched any of the 50 channels I no longer get.

I would be much more likely to switch if all the services used the same channel numbers. ESPN going from 206 DTV to 140 Dish, etc.

not all that difficult to learn new channels.....especially if saves you $60-80 bucks a month. I looked at current Dish network deals for new customers and they give them roughly the same savings as I will get by moving to ATT. I hate playing the nomad game but this is real money that I can save. The only hassle is sending equipment back but I can do that with no problem.

Default Good luck

I tried to switch to Uverse two years ago, however, even though I was within their required distance from the HUB they could never get the equipment to sync up. Two techs were at my house for over 5 hours one afternoon trying to complete the install. WHile they were trying to get the stuff to sync, looking at their meters, they were telling me that I must be real close to the cut off point as I was only going to get 2 HD streams and be limited to about 12mb on my Internet speed . At the time I had a DSL line that was getting 12, but at 6 pm they both said that someone would have to return in the morning to finish the install as their shift was done and they could not get the equipment to sync. After they left I found they left me with NO phone or Internet on my old line. So, I called on my cell and got handed off to one after another until I finally got someone to send out an ATT guy who hooked my phone and DSL line back up. I told him to take that Uverse garbage equipment with him and canceled the install. The following week I contacted my local cable company and had them install Internet and VOIP and haven't looked back. I get 60MB Internet speeds and phone for $64 and I have DISH for $59... My next door neighbor did get the Uverse and he is always complaining about how bad the picture is and the damn thing buffering, so I am glad they could never get mine to work.

the first thing I did was locate the Vrad box ATT has in our neighborhood and its roughly 150 yards away from my house and I spend time talking to ATT techs who have been in our neighborhood and all indications, I would have gotten a great signal from them. As it turns out, Dish made some concessions to the point where I can spend another year. Comcast cut my internet cost big time and I just caught a great deal from T-Mobile which is reducing our cellphone bill nearly $50/months even when you consider we have to purchase 2 new phones still big savings over verizon.

All in all, this week I was able to reduce our yearly expenses by nearly $2000

I was a 17year Dish subscriber and switched last month to U-verse all due to saving money. Has it been flawless? No but it'll do for my 2 year contract (my bundle price is for 2 years). After that, we'll probably change again to someone else. When I first signed up for Dish, my monthly was $19.99 plus tax (if I remember it was about 25.00). When I cancelled, the monthly bill was over 92.00. Have times changed. Loyalty? It's basically gone - cost too much.

Getting off topic but... What's a bit frustrating is that I watch around 8-10 channels - that's all. Unfortunately, a few are only available in the higher tier packages. It's like subsidizing channels that I'm not interested in.
